(Warrensburg, MO) The last few weeks of the season are already upon us but that’s not slowing down Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) as the track prepares to roll out another big-money special event for drivers and fans this Saturday, August 15.

B-mod competitors will compete for their annual $1,500-to-win track special 25-lap event while the ULMA Late Models make their second-to-last guest appearance this season in the midst of a fierce battle at the top of their standings. USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Pure Stocks are also part of this Saturday’s program.

Jacob Ebert continues to lead the B-Mod standings heading into this week’s special event. The Oak Grove driver has racked up 9 main-event wins this season out of 14 for an incredible 64% win ratio. Chad Staus, Cody Brill, Troy Carlyle, and Nic Bennett are the only other drivers to claim a main event this season in B-mod action. Out of 45 heat races ran this year 19 different drivers have recorded.

Although Ebert appears to be the odds-on favorite, several of the track regulars such as Carlyle, Eddie Bray, Jr., Chris Brockway, Curtis Berry, Brett Wood, Richard Brainard, and Cody Frazon are expected to try for the victory this weekend. With a strong purse on the line and an area full of talented B-mod competitors it’s really hard to guess who may show for the special event. Although USRA rules are used at CMS, the race is not a USRA-sanctioned event. See full B-mod purse below. This event is not a track point’s earning event.

Unfortunately wet weather led to the cancellation of two earlier appearances by the ever-popular ULMA Late Models at CMS but they are scheduled to return this weekend with a hotly contested point’s battle going on at the top of the standings. Previous CMS ULMA winner Payton Looney is not scheduled to be on hand due to another race commitment.

Drivers racing at or near the top of the ULMA standings this season vying to become champion include current point’s leader Jon Melloway, Todd McCoin, Chris Cox, and Dustin Hodges. Although no driver appearances are confirmed, ULMA drivers that have strong finishes at CMS in the past include Dwight Niehoff, Bobby Penney, John O’Neil, and Jon Binning, a former two-time late model champion at the track. Steve Clancy and Bob King are known to drop in on CMS Late Model appearances as is Gage Wineland, Lane Ehlert, and Kevin Coyne.

The talent-deep USRA Modified contingent hasn’t disappointed fans over the last few weeks with exciting main events. Last week, USRA National Point’s Leader Terry Schultz of nearby Sedalia, Missouri flew the checkers over a strong field that included Kevin Blackburn, Jason Bodenhamer, Tim Karrick, and Robby Reed. One of the unique characteristics of CMS is its geographical location, which often means drivers from all points of Missouri and Eastern Kansas often compete at the track.

Brett Wood of Warrensburg took another trip to victory lane in the Street Stock action last weekend and will surely be one to watch again this weekend in the division. Troy Turley, Clayton Campbell, and Jay Prevete have also recorded strong runs this season. Pure Stock point’s leader Jeremiah Wilson grabbed his fourth triumph last weekend and takes his point’s lead into the final few weeks over defending champion Leroy Morrison. Note, mention of driver name in any class does not guarantee race appearance.

The CMS staff has already met to discuss the 2016 race season and released the following information earlier this week about next year’s schedule. Next season will feature 24 race nights beginning on Saturday, April 16, 2016 thru a Labor Day weekend two-night special, Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th.

The four weekly race classes will include Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-mods, and Pure Stocks with a few guest classes making appearances from time to time and to be announced. All of next year’s Modified specials will go back to the format of one payout on night two with $3,000 to win for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend and $5,000 to win Independence Day Weekend. Additional information about pay to be announced as will race formats and detailed purse structures.

Earl Walls announced that if a driver wins 2 of the 3 of the summer specials they will earn a $2,500 bonus. If a driver wins all 3 of the summer specials they will earn a $5,000 bonus! To be eligible, the driver must enter all 3 summer Modified specials. The bonus money is on top of the to-win money! One driver could take home $16,000 in winning all three specials!

The annual Pure Stock special will take place in May with the Street Stock special in July and the B-mod special in September. Next year’s Pure Stock purse will have a significant increase. A tentative rules meeting is set for Saturday, January 16th. More information will be released prior to the start of the 2016 CMS race season.
