Lucas Oil SpeedwayWHEATLAND, MO (August 23rd, 2015) – A lively crowd and a superior field of cars invaded Lucas Oil Speedway for TA/Petro Fan Appreciation Night Presented by Ozarks Sports Zone on Saturday, August 22nd. Logan Martin out of West Plains took top honors in the USRA Modifieds while David Hendrix asserted his dominance in the Carson’s Corner NAPA Factory Stocks to pick up the win. Lebanon’s Kris Jackson took the top spot in the USRA B-Mods and Payton Looney showcased his talent yet again as he scores another Lucas Oil Speedway victory.

First class to take the track were the USRA Modifieds led by racing veterans Terry Schultz and Jeff Cutshaw which set high standards for the rest of the field. Young Logan Martin, however, wasted no time in charging past Schultz for the number one spot. Martin stayed up front with a comfortable lead and held off Schultz for the remainder of the race to take home the victory. Schultz and Cutshaw didn’t go very far back as they finished respectably in second and third. Jason Russell remained unchanged as he started fourth and finished there. Tyler Wolff out of Fayetteville, Arkansas rounded out the top-5 from tenth.

The Carson’s Corner NAPA Factory Stocks yet again delivered a thrilling main event featuring an epic battle for first place between David Hendrix and Ted Welschmeyer out of Tebbetts, Missouri. Hendrix and Welschmeyer exchanged the top spot multiple times before Welschmeyer looped his car around sending him to the back of the field. The circumstances gave Hendrix an easy road to Andy’s Frozen Custard Victory Lane. Johnny Coats started eighth but locked in a second place finish. Camdenton, Missouri’s Kenny Carroll moved up two spots to go from fifth to third. Brian Schutt and Bobby Barnett fought it out the entire race as they started in the tenth and eleventh spots and finished together in fourth and fifth.

Kris Jackson is a household name around the Lucas Oil Speedway and once again he showed his dominance in the USRA B-Mod main event. He and Logan Martin showcased a hard fought battle for first before Martin out of West Plains, Missouri spun and was sent to the tail. Jackson remained in command for the rest of the race and secured the top spot. The top-5 was full of hard charges and amazing runs by some extremely experienced drivers. Shawn Strong was on a mission as he raced his way through the field from 18th to finish second. Mike Striegel, “The Wheatland Outlaw”, was right with Strong the entire race as he started 17th and finished third. Eddie Schwope Jr. started fifth and ended in third while sixteen year-old Andy Bryant flew through the field out of 19th to round out the top-5.

The final main event of the evening featured the ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Models as Republic, Missouri’s Payton Looney secured one of many first place finishes at Lucas Oil Speedway. Looney made it look easy as he wasted no time getting to the front from his starting position in eighth. Lance Town started on the outside front row and would stay in the second position as his final finishing spot. Dustin Hodges out of Fulton, Missouri steadily advanced three spots to finish third from sixth while Todd McCoin slid back one spot to finish fourth from his third place starting position. Justin Russell was on a mission in the main event and went from twelfth to fifth to secure a top-5 spot. Looney earned the Keyser Manufacturing Hard Charger Award as he scored the win after starting in the eighth spot.
Lucas Oil Speedway will crown the Class Champions in all four of the Lucas Oil Speedway Budweiser Weekly Racing Series divisions next Saturday, August 29th on Bill Roberts Chevrolet-Buick Weekly Series Season Championship Night Presented by KYOO-Your Country 99 & KPOW-Power 97.7.
