loyet-lincoln-IL_DSC0015(Bill W) August 25, 2015 – It was a rough Knoxville Nationals for Brad Loyet and the Vacuworx Global #o5 team, but they bounced back with a podium finish with the Lucas Oil ASCS Series at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia last Sunday.  This weekend, the Sunset Hills, Missouri driver is planning a trio of events including FVP National Sprint League events in Moberly, Missouri Friday and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin Sunday.  Those events sandwich the MOWA/IRA Bill Waite Jr. Memorial at LaSalle Speedway in Illinois Saturday.

Things started with a good draw in Sedalia.  “We were really good at Sedalia” says Brad.  “I hadn’t really run in a 360 since Florida.  I had some notes from 2011 when we ran there.  We started on the pole in the heat and won it.  There wasn’t too much exciting to say about that.  We set sail in clean air.”

Brad would carry his momentum into a special Dash.  “Our points in the heat set us up seventh in the Dash,” he says.  “That determined our lineup for the feature.  Luckily, we were able to get up to third.  That set us up in good position for the feature.”

The progress continued in the main event, and the car was in contention for a big win.  “We didn’t get the greatest start,” says Brad.  “We were fourth coming off turn two.  We were able to get by (Seth) Bergman once the race started clicking off and we were in third.  I had a really good car.  Honestly, I think we had a better car than (Brian) Brown or (Aaron) Reutzel.”

Brad tried to make a move in traffic.  “We got in lapped traffic there and got up on them,” he says.  “I was a lot better than them in three and four.  I was able to make the bottom stick and keep my momentum up.  Every time we hit lapped traffic we’d hit it wrong and it would be on the bottom of three and four.”

He would checker third.  “I drag raced Brown to the checkered and I thought I had him,” says Brad.  “We ended up third though.  The race was supposed to be 30 laps, but they cut it down to 25 because they were worried about tire wear.  If we would have had those five more laps, I think we could have gotten it done.”

Brad and the team enjoyed their good finish.  “After the tough week we had, it was needed to have a good night like that,” he says.  “Our plan this week is Moberly on Friday, LaSalle on Saturday and Angell Park on Sunday.”
