Southern All Stars and NeSmith Series make Kentucky Lake debut

kentucky-lake-motor-speedway CALVERT CITY, Kentucky – Billy Moyer Jr. picked up the $4,000 victory in the first ever appearance by the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Friday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway. Moyer, who claimed three victories at KLMS last season, made his season debut at the 3/8th mile oval in Calvert City, Kentucky. In the 40-lap feature Moyer was able to claim the lead, charging from the third position on a mid-race restart. Moyer led the rest of the way, holding off Ashley Newman as they worked their way through lapped traffic. Newman, who started on the pole, finished second. Riley Hickman, Brandon Kinzer and Dylan Ames rounded out the top five. Local competitors who competed in the event were Tanner English (8th), Jeffery Bailey (10th), Jarryd Holshouser (11th), Terry English (12th), Tim Brown (15th) and Brad Mitchell (18th).

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series made its first ever trip to the Bluegrass State last weekend. Riley Hickman dominated the $2,500 to win, 50-lap feature Friday night, leading the last 38 laps of the race. Hickman took the lead from Matt Henderson on lap 12 and never looked back. Henderson would finish the race in second, just 0.937 seconds behind Hickman. Ryan King, John Owenby and Jake Teague took positions three through five, respectively. Local competitors in the feature were Tait Davenport (7th), Troy English (9th), Evan Taylor (19th), Kevin Poole (20th), Credence Mott (22nd) and Ricky Waggoner (23rd).

In the Open Wheel Modified division Trent Young notched his third feature win of the season. Young held off Josh Harris and Bryce Jewell to extend his championship points lead. Justin Houston and J R Mason rounded out the top five.

Chad Boone parked his Stock Car in victory lane again Friday night. Boone was able to hold off Mike Lentz, who won the heat race earlier in the night. Kassidi Gibbs and Clay Story rounded out the field.
Mike Neighbors remained undefeated in 2015 in the Pure Stock division. Mike Watson, Mike Welch, Lisa Wadley and William Collum finished second through fifth, respectively.
