Eldora Speedway(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars scored his third Late Model special event victory of the 2015 campaign on Saturday evening, September 5 at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois! The Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series and American Late Model Series (ALMS) co-sanctioned the program and a strong field of cars piled into the FALS pit area. Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action and later led from flag-to-flag in the main event from his outside front row starting spot. At the checkers, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star collected the $5,000 windfall for besting Chris Simpson, Kevin Weaver, Brian Shirley, and Scott Bull!

On Sunday night, September 6, the dirt-slinging competition shifted east to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for the annual running of the ‘Baltes Classic.’ The ALMS tour presided over the single-day shootout and a $3,000 payday was on the line. Jimmy timed in tenth quickest overall during qualifying prior to nabbing another heat race triumph. After starting third on the grid in the 25-lap sprint, Jimmy challenged eventual winner Billy Moyer for the point – even nearly pulled off a last corner slidejob – before settling for a strong runner-up showing. Complete results from the Labor Day weekend action can be accessed online at www.americanlatemodelseries.com.

“It was great to get another win at Fairbury, I didn’t know if I would ever get another one at that place or not,” quoted Mars this week via telephone. “There were a couple of years there where we seemed to run up front consistently and picked up several wins. But lately, that trend has kinda reversed, so hopefully we have got things heading back in the right direction. Then at Eldora, we had a strong car and it was a lot of fun racing (Billy) Moyer for the win. I knew I didn’t have enough room to clear him on that last lap and we race each other clean, so I settled for a second and we will try to get one spot better this weekend in the World 100!”

All eyes in the #28 camp are now firmly focused on the upcoming 45th Annual ‘World 100’ on September 10-12 at the hallowed high banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The three-day crown jewel spectacular will start with a pair of Twin 25s on both Thursday and Friday, with $5,000 earmarked for the winner of each 25-lapper. Saturday’s portion of the program will once again feature heat races, consolation events, and the ‘World 100.’ A total of $318,850 will be available for “The Biggest Dirt Race in the Worldâ„¢,” with $48,000 going to the winner of the 100-lap extravaganza.
