Wheatland, MO (February 1, 2016) – There’s one way to guarantee the best seats in house for the season’s biggest dirt-track weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway.
Three-day reserved seats for the 24th annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 Presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com, May 26-28, go on sale February 8. This year’s Show-Me 100 weekend will, for the first time, have features for the Lucas Oil Late Model Series each of the three nights.
Season ticket holders for Lucas Oil Speedway and Show-Me 100 renewals from last year – when two-day passes were sold – have until Feb. 8 to confirm their same seats.
Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson pointed out that the advantage of the three-day pass, along with seat location, is the comfort of the stadium-style seat with high backs and are rests along the front straightaway.
“For our biggest weekend of the season – and one of the biggest dirt-track racing weekends in the country – the three-day pass is the best way for our fans to go,” Robinson said. “It takes away any of the worry about where you’re going to sit or how early you might have to get to the track to find the seat that you want.
“We think the value it offers is well worth it, considering that the Show-Me 100 weekend is offering Late Model features, each night, for the first time.”
Three-day tickets are $95 and can be purchased by calling the Lucas Oil Speedway office at (417) 282-5984.
This year’s edition of one of dirt-track racing’s Late Model crown jewel events has a new format and an increase in total purse money of about $60,000.
A feature on the middle night is being added, meaning two $6,000-to-win preliminary events leading into the $30,000-to-win finale on Saturday night.
Those first two features have more meaning than money. Some details remain to be finalized, but the first 18 starters in the 100-lap Show-Me 100 will be determined by average finish from the Thursday and Friday features. Previously, those positions were set through time trials and heats on a feature-less Friday.
Robinson said total purse for the weekend, which is co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA, will grow to about $170,000.
Robinson said the evolution of the Show-Me 100, which included the addition of the popular “Cowboy Classic” on Thursday night in recent years, precipitated the changes. Friday’s action in recent years has consisted of Show-Me 100 time trials, heat races, Manufacturers Dash and Past Champions race – but no feature event for the Late Models.
“I never dreamed Thursday would be so big, so I felt like we wanted to have two full shows leading into the Show-Me 100. I liked the idea of a feature both nights,” Robinson said.
The Thursday race will continue to be named in honor of Allen “Cowboy” Chancellor, former co-owner of the MLRA. The Friday feature will pay tribute to Don and Billie Gibson, former owners of West Plains Motor Speedway where the Show-Me 100 originated.
First place in the Show-Me 100 will remain $30,000, but the payout will increase about $30,000 throughout the remainder of the field. Second will pay $15,000 (an increase of $5,000) with third $10,000 (up from $6,000). Earning a starting spot will guarantee $2,000, up from $1,500.
Up to three B features on Saturday, lined up by average finishes on Thursday and Friday, will determine the remainder of the starting field for the Show-Me 100.
For the fourth straight year, the Midwest Sheet Metal Last-Chance Challenge will precede the Show-Me 100. Sponsored by the Springfield, Missouri-based Midwest Sheet Metal, the non-qualifiers race will pay $2,500 to win or the winner has the option to start at the back of the field for a guaranteed $2,000.
Last year, Chris Simpson the Last-Chance Challenge, opted to start the feature and charged from 31st to 3rd.
The Late Models will be joined by the Pitts Homes USRA Modified division running full programs each of the three nights.
