Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Announces 2016 Schedule

Glasgow, KY-February 21, 2016- Officials with the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series are pleased to announce its 2016 racing schedule, with twelve events on the docket and the possibility for two more dates to be added, with the tour visiting one new venue in 2016, and the tour will present a total of seven events that will pay at least $3,000 to win.

The series will contest its 2016 schedule of events at eight different racing venues over the course of the 2016 racing season, with appearances at tracks in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.  The 2016 campaign will see competitors race for over $42,000 to win in A-Main winner’s purses.

The 2016 racing season kicks off on Friday April 22 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN with the 3rd Annual J.B. Robinson Memorial event that will be 30 laps in distance and see the winner take home $2,000, while the event will pay $200 to start.

The month of May will feature the open wheel warriors of the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series in action with a pair of events in the Land of Lincoln over the 2016 Memorial Day weekend as the tour will visit Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL on Friday May 27 for a 30 lap, $1,500 to win/$200 to start event, followed by a trip to Fairbury’s American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL the following evening on Saturday May 28 for a 30 lap, $2,000 to win/$200 to start contest.  There is the possibility of one more event being added to the schedule for Sunday May 29 and that event is listed as a to be announced date on the schedule.

The month of June will see two events take place, but it will be in the form of a doubleheader weekend of racing action.  On Friday June 24, the tour visits Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH, racing for a 30 lap, $1,500 to win/$200 to start event, while the following evening on Saturday June 25, the tour will visit Florence Speedway in Union, KY for a 30 lap, $1,500 to win/$200 to start contest.

The month of July has a to be announced date for Friday July 1, while the tour will return to Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the first time since 2012 on Saturday July 2 in what will be a 40 lap, $3,000 to win/$225 to start event, while the tour has no events scheduled during the month of August at this time.

The month of September will be the busiest month on the calendar for the tour, with five events on the docket, all in the state of Illinois.  The month begins with the 4th Annual Land of Lincoln Labor Day Triple Shot, with the first event being a 35 lap, $3,000 to win/$225 to start contest at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL on Friday September 2.  On Saturday September 3, action moves to Fairbury’s American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL for the 4th Annual Casey’s AMS Modified Nationals, with the event being 50 laps and paying $10,000 to win and $300 to start.  The weekend concludes on Sunday September 4 at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, IL for the 26th Annual Modified Fall Nationals, with that being a 50 lap, $5,000 to win/$250 to start event.

The month of September will conclude as the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will visit Peoria Speedway in Peoria, IL for the first time in series history on September 16 and 17.  The tour will present a 35 lap, $3,000 to win/$225 to start event on Friday September 16, followed by a 40 lap, $5,000 to win main event the following evening on Saturday September 17.

The tour concludes its 2016 campaign with one event in the month of October.  It will be the series season finale at Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday October 22 as the tour will be in competition in the 7th Annual Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Championship event, paying $5,000 to win and $250 to start the 40 lap contest.

The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series is also pleased to announce it will continue its working relationship with the UMP DIRTcar Modified organization, as the UMP DIRTcar organization will have its officials at all events to handle technical inspection of the race cars.  Drivers can also earn points toward the UMP DIRTcar Modified national title, along with earning points toward the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series championship title as well.
