Highland Speedway Logo -2014Highland, IL (3-24-16) Scott Kuhn, Director of Competition at the Highland Speedway announced that the BMod class will see changes in the upcoming 2016 season.

“After much consideration by the Highland Speedway Race Committee, the BMod class will NOT run under any national sanctioning body in 2016.”

Kuhn said, “After watching the Sportsman class collapse due to open rules and disregard to cost, we revived the BMod class in 2012 in hopes of finding a solution for the average racer to go racing every week. We have been completely overwhelmed by the participation of the drivers in our area. The growth has spread to other tracks and various sanctioning bodies. However, the changes brought forth by everyone has not been favorable to our local racers and have to been what I and the Highland Speedway Race Committee envisioned for the class. There is currently no weekly Friday night track for our BMod drivers to race, which has factored into this decision.

“We will be making minor changes to the rules to keep the playing field equal for all, including the use of open motors and Crates. The original rules we started with were simple and cost effective for all participants,” Kuhn added. “We are not going to make changes that will cost the racer’s money, we are looking at ways to save them money.”

In addition, we are seeking sponsors to add money to the year ending point fund.

“The race this Saturday (3-26-16) will run under the 2015 BMod rules with the updated 2016 Highland Speedway BMod rules coming out shortly.”

So what does this mean for the BMod racers at Highland Speedway? The Highland Speedway is looking to grow the class, work to save racers money and not require them to purchase memberships in any national race organization. More details will be forthcoming at the Lucky 40. We are looking to have a great year at the Highland Speedway in the BMod class.
