Lucas Oil SpeedwayWheatland, Missouri (May 3, 2016) – Andrew Felker hopes this is the year he gets to finally celebrate in front of a large continent of friends and family at his “home” track.

“We’ve had quick cars there, but haven’t been able to get the monkey off our back and finish it off,” the Carl Junction driver said of past visits to Lucas Oil Speedway in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series. “Hopefully this time we can rid of our bad luck and win one.”

Felker, a two-time winner on the POWRi Midget Series already this season, will be one to watch on Saturday when the 5th annual Impact Signs Awnings Wraps Open Wheel Showdown returns to Lucas Oil Speedway.

Impact Signs, Awnings, Wraps of Sedalia also is a presenting sponsor of the ASCS Warrior Region in 2016.

“Impact Signs, Awnings, Wraps and (owner) David Goodson is a tremendous supporter of dirt-track racing and we appreciate them returning as the title sponsor for our Open-Wheel Showdown,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. “The Open Wheel Showdown always is one of the highlights of our season.

“When you get the two ASCS Winged Sprints tours competing together along with the Boss Chassis Wingless Sprints and the POWRi Lucas National Midget Series on the same program – and combine it with a terrific weather forecast – it’s going to be a fantastic night of open-wheel racing.”

Here’s a look at the program:

POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series

Zach Daum, a two-time series champion, leads the series points with Felker 60 behind after his win last Friday at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Illinois. The series was rained out on Saturday at I-55 Speedway.

Felker, 23, said he’s riding momentum into this weekend after the victory. Winning for the first time so close to home would be sweet.

“A lot of hard work in the offseason is starting to pay off and hopefully we can keep it rolling,” Felker said. “Last year at Lucas we were running second, battling for the win, and had a battery go bad, but the season is going really good and hopefully we can finish it off this time.”

The series kicks off the weekend with a Friday race at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo. Saturday’s event includes the POWRi West Midget Series and is the only visit of the season for the POWRi Midget Series to Lucas Oil Speedway.
