Haubstadt, IN – May 29, 2016 – Chase Stockon is now two for two this season at Tri-State Speedway as he won the “Memorial Weekend Classic”
Sunday night after also winning the “Spring Showdown” back in April.
The Classic was an all-out challenge for the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series drivers.

Chase Stockon provided the tightest competition as Critter Malone led lap after lap. After a restart with 3 laps remaining the two exchanged the lead. Then another late race incident brought out the yellow flag. Another car had suddenly blocked Malone’s line and left the two cars stopped on the track. Malone restarted at the tail with just one lap remaining. Stockon inherited the lead. The green and white were waved at the field simultaneously. Chase Stockon capitalized fully on the opportunity as Kyle Cummins overtook Brady Short to claim second. The victory was worth $2,500.

Chase Stockon’s 32 TBI Sprint is sponsored by Superior Tank, Angle Buildings, Ted Brown’s Quality Paint, and PRG Shocks. It was the eleventh time that the Fort Branch, IN, driver has visited a MSCS victory lane! “The track was just a little bit tricky. But we definitely had the car to win tonight.” And in the process it was Showtime once again at Tri-State Speedway!

Cummins was also on the move in his Rock Steady Sprinter. “There at the end I needed a couple of more laps!” Brady Short’s third place finish was his best so far this season in MSCS. Jeff Bland Jr. was in the hunt with a fourth place finish. Overall fast qualifier Carson Short was fifth. The second five included Dakota Jackson, Critter Malone, Brandon Morin, Aric Gentry, and Tyler Hewitt. The Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award was presented to Chet Williams who was eleventh.

The three heat races were won by Chase Stockon, Critter Malone, and Kyle Cummins. They became the cars to beat when the redraw for the feature inversion came up ZERO. A B was not held. All 23 cars transferred to the feature. The feature was interrupted by yellow flags five times. The first sent Carson Short to the work area to replace a left rear tire. Short restarted on the tail and finished fifth.

The next MSCS Sprint Car race will be held at the Brownstown Indiana Speedway on Saturday night June 4th. It will be the only appearance for the series there this season. MSCS will be back in action at the Tri-State Speedway along with the Winged MOWA Sprints on June 11th.

TWO MORE EXCITING FEATURES!

The UMP Modified division was in full force Saturday night as well.
Mark Lamont finished ahead of Zach Fair and Matt Lane to win the 25 lap feature. Lamont led the entire distance in route to his second feature victory in a row at the track. Brandon McDowell and Clay Lane rounded out the top five. Lance Foreman led the second five to the finish line.

In preliminary action the three modified heat races were victories for Matt Lane, Mark Lamont, and Brandon McDowell. Larry Anderson, Brian Shaw, and Everett Bradham ran 1, 2, 3 to transfer out of the B to the A Main!

The open wheel modifieds will be in action at both upcoming June Tri-State Speedway events. The June 26th race is the Summit Modified special event paying $1,000 to win.

The MMSA Mini-Sprints were also in the house at Tri-State Speedway for the first time this season. A full field of twenty-four competitors raced. The heat race winners were Drew Dorsett, Tyler Kendall, and Chris Baumeyer. Rod Henning won the B Main with Cody Trammel placing second.

Rich Hench took the twenty lap feature with Drew Dorsett, Bradley Strunk, Andy Bradley, and Anthony Haas rounding out the top five in the 21 car field.
