Popular Firecracker 40’s On Tap For Macon Speedway Saturday
Pro Late Models & Modifieds Run Extra Laps Plus A Firework Display

Race fans in Central Illinois will be making their way to Macon Speedway this coming Saturday night for the 95Q/Dynagraphics & Wood Printing Firecracker 40’s. The popular event will feature special events for the Midwest Big Ten Series Pro Late Models and the Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds. Four other classes will race plus a fireworks display to welcome in the 4th of July season.

Two events have been run so far this season in the Midwest Big Ten Series Pro Late Models, one at Lincoln Speedway and one at Macon, the two tracks in the Big Ten doubleheader this weekend. New Berlin, IL driver Nick Bauman has claimed both victories so far this season. Clinton, IL driver Roben Huffman is second in points with two third place finishes. Jake Little, Andy Minett, and Matt Taylor complete the top five in the standings.

In the Billingsley Towing UMP Modified division, Decatur, IL driver Dave Crawley, Jr. has had an outstanding start to the year. Crawley is coming off of his fifth win of the season, this past Saturday night, in just six tries. Taylorville, IL driver Curt Rhodes is second in the standings, while Jeff Graham sits third, Zach Rhodes fourth, and Rodney Standerfer is fifth. Standerfer, last year’s champion, is the only driver to find victory lane this season other than Crawley.

The UMP B-Mods will be running for the fifth time this season and a barrage of drivers will be trying to knock Tim Hancock off of his unbeaten pedestal. The Mt. Olive, IL driver has won all four B-Mod races at Macon this season and is the UMP National point leader in the division. Ryan Timmons, Eric Brackett, Cody Stillwell, and Tim Riech are top five in the standings. The UMP B-Mods will be running a doubleheader weekend, as they run at Lincoln on Friday night as well.

The UMP Sportsman will also be running a doubleheader weekend with races at Lincoln and Macon. The Sportsman event at Macon will be the fifth of the season. So far, two drivers have found victory lane with Lovington, IL’s Jeremy Nichols and Monticello, IL’s Timmy Dick taking two wins each. Nichols leads the standings over Argenta, IL’s Danny Smith and Scott Landers. Tom Graham and Tim Bedinger round out the top five.

Decatur, IL’s Nick Justice has had a great start to his Street Stock season and he looks for that to continue this coming Saturday night. Justice has won four of the eight feature events and leads the point battle. Terry Reed, Jeremy Nichols, and Dave Crawley, Jr. have also been in victory lane for the class. Kyle Waters, Brian Dasenbrock, Reed, and Dustin Reed are top five competitors in the points.

Rounding out Macon Speedway’s divisions for Saturday is the UMP Hornet class. The division, which has seen a jump in car count this year will have some extra bonuses on the line this weekend as Macon’s winner Saturday night will receive $200, a jump in pay. Additionally, a bonus point fund has been set up between Lincoln Friday and Macon Saturday, that will give the highest two day point finishers $100, $50, $25, and $25. Decatur, IL’s Tony Reed leads the standings by just six points over Mike Gossett. Jerad Matherly, Ryan Cantrell, and Cook Crawford are top five in the current rundown.

When darkness sets in on Macon Speedway, one of the area’s earliest holiday firework displays will be shot in the air to celebrate the 4th of July. Also on the program will be CEFCU Kid’s Club.

Pits open Saturday at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, competitor pill draw ends at 5:50, hotlaps begin at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 11 and under.
