(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer’s 2016 win total now stands at five following a weekend sweep of the annual ‘Masters’ on June 17-18 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin! On Friday night, Billy timed in second quickest in UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals qualifying prior to scoring the victory in his heat race. After starting the 40-lapper from the pole position, Billy led each and every circuit en route to the convincing $5,000 triumph over Jason Krohn, Chris Simpson, Bobby Pierce, and Jimmy Mars!
At CLS on Saturday evening, Billy knocked down the fastest lap overall during Summer Nationals time trials and once again claimed a win in heat race action. After drawing the pole position again before the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap headliner, the popular driver known as “Mr. Smooth” led laps 1 and 26-50 to bag the $10,000 windfall for his 92nd career UMP Summer Nationals victory over Bobby Pierce, Jason Feger, Mike Marlar, and Jason Krohn!
Earlier in the extended weekend, the #21 team was in the pit area at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois on Thursday, June 16 for the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals lid lifter. Billy qualified second fastest in his group during time trials and later ran second in his loaded heat race. Unfortunately, the Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer was involved in an opening lap incident during the $5,000 to win main event and was an early retiree in the twenty-first position. With last night’s rain-out at Farley (IA) Speedway, Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) has three more UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals showdowns on their racing calendar for the remainder of the week. The Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois (Thursday), Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois (Friday), and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois (Saturday) will all play host to $10,000 to win programs from June 23-25.
