“Dream come true,” said Christopher Bell, the 21 year old, describing his win at Gateway.
Bell has now won two races in the NASCAR truck series. This is his first win on asphalt, his first win came at Eldora on famed dirt track.
“IÂ have made my share of mistakes,” said Bell. “This win will make our lives less stressful.”
The win assures the driver and his team a place in NASCAR truck series Chase. The Chase is new this year.
The win was also historic for his team owner, Kyle Busch. It was the 50th career win for the team, tying Roush-Fenway Racing.
“Every win is special because you don’t know if it is your last,” said Jerry Baxter, crew chief for Bell. “But this one is blowing up my phone with all the text messages.”
Ben Rhodes came in second with his career-best finish. It is his fourth top-10 finish in 2016.
Daniel Hemric finished in third place posting his second top-10 finish in two races at Gateway Motorsports Park.
This race had about everything going on including a hockey style fight. In the waning laps Spencer Gallagher and Jon Wes Townley wrecked. The two got out of their cars and got into an extended fight until NASCAR officials could break it up.
