Hello race fans, here is your St. Francois County Raceway Auto Plaza Group Race Recap for Friday, July 15th and Saturday July 16th.

The Inaugural Bobby Johnson Memorial Weekend brought race fans a wonderful weekend full of racing action. The Bobby Johnson Memorial Weekend was a two night show for the B-mod class at St. Francois County Raceway. The memorial brought in a large crowd with free admission to the grand stands for Friday night’s show. That also brought in several cars including 28 B-mods all trying to race for the big money. Along with the B-mod class, Friday night’s show included Karts, Micro Sprints, ModLites, and Mini Stocks.

The B-mod class had four heats for Friday night.

FRIDAY

B-mod
Heat 1:
The number 25 car of Josh Hauf started on the outside of the second row and passed three cars to take the win in the first heat of Friday’s B-mod show. Second place went to Colby Benson in the 10b car after started on the inside of Hauf. Rounding up the top three was the 63 car driven by Doug Brewster. Brewstar started on the back row.

Heat 2:
From last to first, Brent Thompson drove the number 10 B-Mod through the field like a power house taking the win in heat number 2. Second place went to the 27w of Jeremy Welborn after putting on a good show from the front row. Finishing third was the number 1 car driven by Chris Boyd after starting on the inside of the third row.

Heat 3:
Kodi Savage and his number 13 car took the checkered in the third heat after starting on the outside of the front row. Eddie Gross took second place in his 4g car after starting on the outside of the third row. Taking third place was Gary Williams in the 36w car.

Heat 4:
Taking the win in the fourth heat was the 4m car driven by Scott Jarrett after he started on the outside of the second row next to the second place finisher Craig Bessinger and the 3 car. Finishing in third place was the 10x of Kyle Jarrett after starting on the inside of the third row.

B-main:
St. Francois County Raceway typically has no more than 20 cars in the feature events. For the B-Mod class there were 29 cars trying to make the field for the feature. In that situation, a B-main had to be ran. After four scratches, there were nine cars that started the B-main with only four being able to advance to the feature. After starting on the back all by himself, the 85g of Joe Giesler took the win in the B-main with the 44 of Darryll Dickerson finishing in second place. Third place went to Jimmy Thurman in his 77t car. Finishing in the final transfer spot was the 12e driven by Duane Eckoff.

Feature:
The drivers put on a great show in the race for $600. Starting on the inside of the second row and taking home the trophy, $600, the cowboy hat, and automatically qualifying for Saturday night’s dash was the 13 car of Kodi Savage. Starting on the outside of the front row and finishing second was Brent Thompson and the 10 car. Finishing third was Eddie Gross in the 4g car after starting on the inside of the fourth row. Starting on the outside of the fifth row and taking home the fourth place finish was the 1 car of Chris Boyd and rounding up the top five, was the 25 of Josh Hauf.

MINI STOCK
Heat 1:
Brandon Bell won the first heat after starting on the outside of the second row. Finishing second was the 51 of Brandon Resinger and taking third was Ron Mosier in the 99 car.

Heat 2:
Taking the win in the second heat was the 10x of Kyle Jarrett with the 17 of Jathon Cruse in second place. Finishing third was the 72 car of Chris Bollinger.

Feature:
Starting on the outside of the second row and taking the trophy was the 17 of Jathon Cruse. Finishing in second was Kyle Jarrett in the 10x car. Third place was Brandon Resinger in the 51 with Kyle Davis in the 3d in fourth. Rounding up the top five was the 99 car of Ron Mosier.

MICRO
Heat 1:
The heat one winner was Allen Cope in the 08c car after starting the inside of the fourth row. Finishing in second was the 17k of Kevin Horcher and in third place was Tom Sydor in the 2a car.

Heat 2:
Starting on the inside of the second row, John Fisher won heat number 2 in the 95j car. Kent Buckley took second in the number 10 car followed by Kyle Henderson in the 10h

Feature
Starting first and finishing first, Allen Cope took home the feature win in the 08c car. Behind him in second was the number 10 car driven by Kent Buckley. Taking third place was Kevin Horcher in the 17k car. Tom Sydor finished fourth place and rounding up the top five was the 10h of Kyle Henderson.

SATURDAY
Saturday night racing was a big show for the B-mods. The winner gets to take home $1,000.

B-MOD

Heat 1:
Chris Boyd took the win in the first heat driving the number 1 car after starting on the pole. In second place was the 10x of Kyle Jarrett and right behind him in third place was the 27w of Jeremy Welborn.

Heat 2:
From third row outside to first place, Eddie Gross drove his 4g car to the front winning heat number two. Darryll Dickerson finished second in his 44 car. While the 25 of Josh Hauf finished third.

Heat 3:
Trey Harris took first place in heat number three in his 316 car. Taking second was the 4m of Scott Jarrett. Behind him in the third position was the 3d of Lou Driemeier.

Heat 4:
Chuck Adams took the win in his 99 car with the 85g of Joe Giesler finish in second place. Behind them was the 36 of Danny Ems

Dash:
In honor of Bobby Johnson, the B-mods also ran a dash when they don’t usually. Taking the win in the dash putting him on the pole for the feature was the 316 of Trey Harris. Finishing second was Eddie Gross in the 4g and Chris Boyd took third in the 1 car.

B-main:
There is only room for four more cars in the main event. The B-main is the last chance to make the show. Winning the B-main was the 74 car of Jeff Whitter. In second place was the 21r of Rudy Slade with Gary Williams behind him in third place. Bringing it to the line in the last transfer position was the 28b of Paul Butler.

Feature:
Taking home the win, the trophy, they cowboy hat and the $1000 was the 316 car driven by Trey Harris. Finishing in a close second was the 4g of Eddie Gross. Taking third place was the 10x of Kyle Jarrett. In fourth place was the 99 of Chuck Adams and rounding up the top five was Joe Giesler in the 85g car.

PURE STREET:

Heat 1:
Starting on the pole and taking home the heat race win was the 71 driven by Joe Merritt. Behind him in second place was the 14 car driven by Chris Boyd. Finishing third was the 44r of Ricky McCullough.

Heat 2:
Starting on the outside of the front row and taking the win was the 00 of David Baker. Finishing second was Chuck Adams in the 99 car. Taking third was Jason Neel in the 94n car.

Feature:
Taking home the feature win was the 94n of Jason Neel. Behind him in second place was David Baker in the 00 car with Chuck Adams behind him in the 99. Finishing fourth place was the number 30 driven by Grant Wadlow. Finishing up the top five was the 32 car driven by Robert Hicks.

SPRINTS

Heat 1:
Jacob Patton took heat number one in the 79j with Joe Miller taking second place. Finishing in third place was Timmy Montgomery in the 32 car.

Heat 2:
Joey Boyd won the second heat in the 67 car while Kent Buckley and his 87 car took second. Bring in the third place finish was the 7d driven by Dylan Dejournett.

Heat 3:
Joey Montgomery won the third heat race in the 12x car. Robbie Standridge and the 17* took second with Scottie Gretzmacher in the 16g finishing third.

Heat 4:
Tommy Worley took the checkered in the fourth and final heat in the 97 car. The 2k of Ryan Kempin finished in second with the 88 car driven by Jeff Wurst finishing in third.

Dash:
Tommy Worley(97) took the dash win with Joey Montgomery taking second and Jacob Patton finishing third.

Feature:
Tommy Worley pulled off the triple crown after winning the Sprint feature. Robbie Standridge(17*) finished second with Kent Buckley ending the night in third in his 87 car. Joey Boyd and Timmy Montgomery bring home fourth and fifth place finishes.

A-MOD

Heat 1:
Billy Smith and his 14 car took first in heat number 1. Behind him was the 18 car driven by Brent Thompson and Kasey Nations finished third in the 26 car.

Heat 2:
The number 56 car Jeff Asher won the second heat with number 15 Danny Resinger and number 7 Tim Nash finishing second and third.

Dash:
Billy Smith won the dash with Jeff Asher taking second. Finishing third was Tim Nash.

Feature:
Bringing home the triple crown was the Billy Smith(14). Matt Dickerson(18d) brought home the second place finish with Mike Savage(30) finishing third. Finishing fourth place was Greg Swaringim in the 25s and in fifth place was Jeff Frohwitter in the 26j.
