Macon Speedway(Macon, IL) Zach Daum, former POWRi National Midget champion returned to Macon Speedway, this time in a MOWA 410 winged sprint car and won the 25-lap A-Main feature attraction Saturday night. Nicknamed the “Dauminator” due to his regular success, Daum lived up to the name and reputation as he got ahead of the traffic on the 13th lap and coasted to the winner’s circle for the final 12 laps. The race looked like it was Spencer Bayston’s to win as he was fastest qualifier and heat race winner but Bayston flipped his machine over on the sixth lap of the race and was finished for the night. MOWA favorite Jerrod Hull took second in the race.

In the Pro Late Model feature race, the Midwest Big Ten Series, was all Guy Taylor. Taylor, a regular to victory lane, went from the front row to the lead at the drop of the green and then was way in front for much of the duration of the 20-lap race.

Jeremy Camp of Blue Mound reigned supreme in the Beach House Micro Sprint race. He was third coming to the green flag after a caution with three laps to go and blasted out the lead, bypassing leader Evan Weyant and second place driver Garrett Duff.

Chett Gehrke started in the front row of the POWRi/Illini Division II Midgets and went on claim the checkered flag in a 20-lap race. Tyler Vantoll  and Adam Taylor tried to keep pace but to no avail as Gehrke cruised to the win.

The night was capped off with the return to victory lane by Decatur’s Jeremy Reed in the Hornets. The former track champion returned to the track and started in the back of the feature only to clutch the checkered flag 15 laps later.

Go-kart racing is on the schedule for next Saturday night as the stock cars get a weekend off before beginning the home stretch on August 13. Fireworks, mayhem and destruction are scheduled with the stock car racing as the 2nd Eve of Destruction comes to Macon Speedway with Mr. Dizzy and his steel wall crashes and car jumping.
