Mike Harrison wins Fairbury’s $10,000 Casey’s Modified Nationals!

Mike Harrison Masters Summit Racing Equipment AMS Casey’s Modified Nationals at FALS     

By Michael Despain – Fairbury, IL (September 3, 2016)- The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series would be in action in the 4th Annual Casey’s Modifieds Nationals at Fairbury’s American Legion Speedwayin Fairbury, IL on Saturday September 3 and Mike Harrison would park his #24H Impressive Race Cars in victory lane to claim the $10,000 payday and become the first repeat winner of the event, having previously won the event in 2014.

Chad Kinder would take the initial lead at the start of the event and would hold the top spot for the first two circuits before Mike Harrison would take the lead on lap 3, only to have retake the top spot on lap 4.  After a caution on lap 6, Kinder and Harrison would battle for the lead and Harrison would reclaim the lead on lap 7.  Five more cautions would slow the event, but Harrison would never relinquish the top spot again drive to the race victory.  Brent Mullens would work past Chad Kinder to finish second, while Kinder claiming the final podium finishing position.  Mike McKinney would take a track provisional and start 24th and would earn hard charger top honors after finishing fourth, with series points leader Trent Young completing the top five.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the Casey’s Modified Nationals A-Main would be Steven Brooks, Jeff Curl, Josh Harris, Jeff Leka and Clayton Miller.  The event would slowed by seven caution flags.

In preliminary action, Dean Hoffman was the Quick Car Racing Products top qualifier among 69 entries at 14.234 seconds.  Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Mike Harrison, while Levi Kissinger scored the win in Fast Shafts heat two.  Hypercoils heat three went to Kenny Wallace, with Chad Kinder winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four.  Summit Racing Equipment heat five would be claimed by Trent Young, while Fast Shafts heat six would be claimed by Clayton Miller.  The Out-Pace Racing Products B-Mains were won by Matt Cooper, Jeff Leka, David Stremme, and Jeff Curl.  Josh Harris and Brian Shaw would be the series provisional starters, while Jay Ledford and Mike McKinney were track provisional starters.
