By Michael Despain – Peoria, IL (September 17, 2016)- After Friday’s event would fall victim to Mother Nature, the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series made its first-ever visit to Peoria Speedway in Peoria, IL for the track’s 2nd Annual Fall Classic on Saturday evening and Mike Harrison of Highland, IL would pick up his second win of the season with the tour by leading all 60 laps of the 2nd Annual Fall Classic.  The win for Harrison was worth $5,000 and came aboard the Rinderer Farms/Aggressive Graphics/EJ Equipment/FlexiCorps Racing sponsored #24H Impressive Race Car powered by a Faust Race Engine.

Mike Harrison and Trent Young would bring the 23 car starting field to the green flag and Harrison would outduel Young for the lead on the opening lap.  Harrison would roll out to a bit of a lead only to have it erased by a caution on lap 15.  The restart would again see Harrison build a lead only to have it go away on lap 26 when Matt Cooper stopped in turn four with left-front suspension issues to draw the caution flag.  Harrison would again roll out to the lead on the restart, while Steven Brooks would challenge Trent Young for second, as the pair would battle for the spot for the next five circuits before Young gained control of the position again.  Meanwhile, Harrison would build a comfortable lead only to see it diminish when a lap 39 caution would appear for debris on the track.  This restart would again have Harrison out front, with Young and Brooks second and third, while Allen Weisser and Ray Bollinger would be fourth and fifth.  One final caution on lap 57 would bunch the field together one final time, but Harrison would prove to be too strong and would see the checkered flag first, while Young and Brooks would complete the podium finishing positions.  Bollinger and Weisser would complete the top five.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the 2nd Annual Fall Classic A-Main would be Lucas Lee, Mike McKinney, Clayton Miller, Josh Harris, and Nathan Balenstien.  The event would slowed by four caution flags.

In preliminary action, Ray Bollinger was the Quick Car Racing Products top qualifier among 41 entries at 12.836 seconds.  Summit Racing Equipment heat one went to Mike Harrison, while Allen Weisser scored the win in Fast Shafts heat two.  Hypercoils heat three went to Trent Young, with Clayton Miller winning Frankland Racing Equipment heat four.  The Out-Pace Race Products B-Mains were won by Matt Cooper and Rodney Bowman, while Josh Harris and Dave Mitchell would be the series provisional starters and Chris Morefield was the track provisional starter.

The next events for the tour will be a weekend doubleheader in the Hoosier State on Friday October 7 at Chandler Motor Speedway in Chandler, IN and on Saturday October 8 at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.  Both events will feature 30 lap main events, paying $1,500 to win and $200 to start.
