(Warrensburg, MO) Since 1994, Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) owners and promoters Earl and Susan Walls have opened the gates of their speedway to a total of 1,774 drivers. Beginning in April 2017, another year of competition will commence at the beloved track featuring Pure Stocks, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and Modifieds and for the first time-ever as a weekly racing car class, Mod-Lites will join the weekly racing program!

CMS looks forward to hosting Mod-Lite racing on a weekly basis and growing and building a great relationship with the drivers and fans who enjoy the competition this exciting class brings to the table. CMS believes Mod-Lite racing is destined to be a major player for years to come and one of the fastest-growing divisions in the sport right now. The 2017 CMS race season features 23 nights of racing from April 15th to September 3rd.

The normal Saturday night weekly race lineup for 2017 will be Pure Stocks, B-Mods, Mod-Lites, Street Stocks, and Modifieds. This order is subject to change at the track’s discretion and during special event weekends. For 2017, the heat race lap counts for Pure Stocks and Mod-Lites will be six laps. Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Modifieds will run eight-lap heat races. For weekly racing feature events, Pure Stocks will run 12 laps, Mod-Lites and Street Stocks will run 15 laps, B-Mods 20 laps, and Modifieds 25 laps. These are also subject to adjustments as deemed necessary by race officials.

The 2017 car class rules for Pure Stocks and Street Stocks have been posted on the CMS website at www.centralmissourispeedway.net. The Track General Race Rules are not yet posted but are expected to be released shortly. The 2017 tentative race schedule is also readily available on the track’s website.

To clarify a previously announced decision about drivers competing in two classes on the same night, CMS releases the following statement. Drivers are permitted to compete in two different car classes on the same night. However, drivers must realize before they make this decision there are things to be aware of and consider. If a driver finishes within the pre-designated or announced “report to tech” finishing positions, the driver must remain with the car until technical inspection is completed.

We understand some drivers compete for two different car owners, but drivers and fans must remember, CMS will not wait for or delay any race, for any reason, for anyone, nor will officials manipulate the race program order, flow, or draw. CMS asks drivers to ask themselves this question, is it fair for a driver to compete in a second class that is seen as a lower division than their normal division, and is it fair to the track? We will let drivers make this decision when they sign in to compete each race night. We urge drivers to be aware of our weekly race order and our special-events race order when announced.

Progress continues at the track on the CMS Party Barn as concrete and plumbing work are currently underway as an addition to the party barn. CMS hopes to make the building a fan favorite and will make future announcements about plans for additions to the speedway grounds. The track itself has also seen a few upgrades as the maintenance staff added many loads of dirt to the track surface.

Drivers may pick up car class rules and register early for next season’s racing during the track’s early bird registration event, one of two pre-season chances to save on car registration. The first opportunity comes on Saturday, January 21, 2017, during the CMS Registration Event held at the ABC Building on the Grounds of Grover Park in Warrensburg, Missouri. From Maguire St (Hwy 13 through Warrensburg), take East North Street past the King’s Chef Chinese Restaurant heading east. The ABC Building is on the right side just past the tennis courts as you start to go downhill. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. For GPS directions, plug this address into your favorite directions app: 416 Commander Wilkes Drive, Warrensburg, Missouri 64093.

Later on that same day, CMS, along with Lakeside Speedway will have a vendor information booth at the annual Racing Auction and Trade Show in Sedalia held at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. This year’s dates are Saturday, January 21st and Sunday, January 22, 2017. The event is held at the Mathewson Exhibition Center located at 2503 West 16th St, Sedalia, MO 65301.

Earl Walls recently made the exciting announcement that the first-ever ‘Street Stock Showdown’ will take place during the post-season at CMS as a special event tentatively scheduled for the 12th and 13th of October. Although full details are to be determined for the race format, Walls said the race will pay $5,000 to win!

Modified drivers will be happy to learn that Walls also stated the bonus money for the three holiday special events will once again be up for grabs. If a driver wins two of the three events, they will take away a $2,500 bonus. If a driver sweeps all three big summer holiday special events, they will take away a $5,000 bonus! The first special event takes place over the Memorial Day weekend, followed by the Independence Day weekend, and finishes up over the Labor Day weekend. B-Mods, Pure Stocks, and Mod-Lites will also have a car class special event to be scheduled on the big three summer holiday weekends.

CMS has also been in contact with Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City regarding a possible bonus program for like classes competing at the speedways. As news and information comes available, both tracks will make information available should the bonus program take flight. The CMS tentative 2017 schedule is located at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.

The CMS Staff, Fans, and Drivers have always been extremely charitable and giving throughout the Walls’ tenure at the track and that them will continue in 2017 when CMS once again brings back three special fund-raisers based upon the big three holiday weekend special events. The track will once again raise money towards Cancer Awareness, Heart Health, and Homes for Our Troops.

CMS is located 3.5-miles north of Warrensburg, MO from the junction of Highways 50 and 13 in Warrensburg just north of the new Hwy 13 by-pass round-a-bout, or from the Higginsville exit off I-70, head south on Highway 13 for twelve and half miles.
