December 6, 2016, St. Louis Region – Chris Blair, Gateway Motorsports Park’s Executive Vice President & General Manager, issued a statement today regarding the December 15-17 VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

“As a clarification, Gateway Motorsports Park — the home of NHRA, NASCAR and INDYCAR in the St. Louis region — is not associated with the promotion and production of next week’s event known as the VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals. When the event was announced in February, we were concerned there might be some confusion — that people would associate Gateway Motorsports Park with the event being held at the Edward Jones Dome. Many race fans mistakenly are contacting Gateway Motorsports Park for event and ticket information.

“We have been in communication with Cody Sommer, the indoor dirt event’s promoter, and hope his event is a success. For that reason, we are sharing his contact information.

“It will be an excellent weekend for racing fans in the St. Louis area as the United States Auto Club will host the annual Junior Knepper 55 for Midgets at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin, Illinois on Saturday, December 17. This is one weekend I’m happy we aren’t racing at our track so we can enjoy a variety of motorsports action in the area. It’s not often fans have the opportunity to go racing in December in the St. Louis region. We hope both events are successful, to get everyone excited about the 2017 racing season — not only at Gateway Motorsports Park, but at the other tracks in our area as well. We’ll be busy stuffing envelopes with Gateway Motorsports Park ticket certificates for our customers who have purchased the gift of speed for the 2017 season. Hopefully, once our ticket office closes at 5 p.m., we can sneak away to see some exciting dirt racing as well.”
