Lucas-Oil-Late-Model-SeriesST. MARYS, OHIO (Dec. 6, 2016) – Four-Time World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Champion Josh Richards who joined forces with Best Performance Motorsports last month, announced today that he will run full-time in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the 2017 season.

Though Richards has chased championships under the World of Outlaws banner for his entire career, the 28-year-old driver has 12 Lucas Oil Series wins to his credit, six of which came this season, including the prestigious Pittsburgher 100.

“I’ve run several Lucas Oil (Late Model Dirt Series) races over the years,” explained Richards. “It’s a great Series with a professional staff. I’m excited to be able to race in some different regions of the country and on some tracks I’ve never been to before.”

In addition to his full slate of Lucas Oil events, Richards plans to run additional races when the schedule allows.

The Shinnston, W.Va. native brings over a decade of racing experience to the Ohio-based team. With four championships under his belt, Richards has amassed more than 150 super dirt late model wins over multiple racing Series and has earned more than 350 top-five finishes and nearly 500 top-10 finishes over his short-career.

“I’m thrilled to join the Best Performance Motorsports team,” exclaimed Richards. “They are one of the top teams in the industry and I’m looking forward to starting this new path in my career.”

Richards will work alongside veteran crew chief and friend Randall Edwards, something the duo is looking forward to.

“I’ve known Randall (Edwards) for many years,” said Richards. “I’ve always wanted the opportunity to work with him. He’s been around the sport for a long time and I know his knowledge will be beneficial.”

“I met Josh (Richards) when he was just a kid,” explained Edwards. “I’ve watched him grow and mature over the years and I’m really looking forward to working with such a talented driver. He’s a proven winner and I know he will bring that same winning attitude to our team this season.”

The defending World of Outlaws Champion will continue to run a Rocket Chassis and will still sport his iconic No. 1 on his new Best Performance Motorsports machine.
