Dennis Erb, Jr.

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing entered a pair of high-profile Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series throwdowns in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee on May 6-7. The lucrative doubleheader started on Saturday night at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky, as the Cincinnati-area facility played host to the 31st edition of the ‘Ralph Latham Memorial.’ Dennis Erb, Jr. ran sixth in his loaded heat race and fourth in his B-Main prior to utilizing a series provisional to gain access into the $12,000 to win main event. Early in the 60-lap affair; however, a broken crank trigger would send Dennis pitside and relegate him to a disappointing twenty-first place performance.

Action then quickly turned to the high-banks at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee for the ‘Toyota of Knoxville 50,’ which paid out a $10,000 top prize on Sunday evening. Dennis knocked down the fifteenth quickest time overall during the qualifying session prior to advancing up to third in his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the fifth row in the 50-lapper, Dennis had his sights set on a strong run before a broken ring & pinion dropped the Carpentersville, Illinois ace to nineteenth in the final finishing order. He now finds himself eighth in the current version of the heated LOLMDS point standings exiting the Volunteer State. A huge four-race weekend in their home state of Illinois will now greet the #28 team, as Dennis is scheduled to sling dirt with the MARS Dirt Car Series at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois, Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, and Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois from May 11-14. Up first will be a $3,000 to win showdown on Thursday at FCR leading into Friday’s ‘Farmer City 74,’ which boasts a whopping $20,000 winner’s check. Following the annual ‘FALS Frenzy’ at Fairbury on Saturday that pays $10,000 to the victor, the gigantic quadruple header will then wrap up on Sunday with a $5,000 to win program at Spoon River.
