Petty Ready To Defend Lebanon Midway USRA Out-Pace B Mod Championship.

Lebanon, Mo.- Veteran Sam Petty is ready for the 2019 Lebanon Midway USRA racing season as he enters Friday night’s action with the title 2018 Track Champion For The USRA Out-Pace B Modified class presented by U-Pull It Auto Parts Of Lebanon.

Petty, enjoyed his finest season ever in his racing career in a Modified type car in 2018. A Track Championship, he stayed around the top 10 in National Standings until the last couple of weeks ( he finished 13th in final standings), 6 feature wins for the season at Midway and showed consistent running in the front pack all season long. Starting last race season, Petty set his goals to run up front weekly at all the tracks, win some races and finished in the top 15 in The Powerful Out Pace USRA B Modified National Standings. Goals were met and the

green John West Logging/Mac’s Performance Power train Industries/Shaw number 9 from the small town of Niangua, Mo was showing everyone he was hitting stride while still learning from the area’s top drivers.

” We really hit the National points chase pretty hard last year and competed in just over 40 races, had to compete almost every week against National Champion Kris Jackson, Donnie Jackson, up and coming Tyler Knudtson, defending champion Tyler Brown and many others while still on that learning curve. I like competing against the tough competition, it makes you work harder, keep-up on the car and chasing or being right with them not only keeps you in the right mind set, but also you learn at the same time.”

The youngest of the 3 Racing Petty Brothers, Sam likes to call Midway his home track. He has always had pretty good luck at Midway. Petty won a drawing 1 season for drivers with perfect attendance( over 13 plus drivers) for a trip to Vegas and since he joined The B Mod Class a few seasons ago as been a threat to win weekly at Midway. In 2017, during the Fall Season, he finished 2nd to Tyler Brown in the point standings , won the 1st ever Bud Perry Memorial and had captured a couple of features during the Spring/Summer Series but had some mechanical issues causing him to miss a few races.

For 2018, it was a total focus on being ready and prepared when he pulled into the track and really improved his maintenance program. No easy task especially since he helps other drivers get their cars ready from the hometown area.

” The track has been in great shape thee last 2 seasons, our overall car counts in the classes are going up and the atmosphere around the track really shows a family effort with some of the things they do.

“We had a great run at Monett( a bigger track) with a 2nd place in the 4-state event in my only race there this last season and we have just about grabbed a couple of wins at Springfield. We prefer the smaller type tracks and like a smooth surface, it fits our style. During the 4th of July weekend there was a lot of USRA Points event, so I used some of my vacation time from Wal-Mart to hit the races. My wife and children are great supporters of the racing program and are at almost all of my races.”

Other supporters are Signeffx Graphics, Petty Construction, and Bed Head Mattress Recycling

Lebanon, Mo.- Lebanon’s Tyler Knutdson enters his 3rd season behind the wheel of a Out Pace USRA B Modified presented by U-Pull-It Auto Parts of Lebanon and is ready for a break-out season at The Lebanon Midway Speedway..

The driver of The Knudtson 32 Garage/TJR Racing 8K B Modified finished 3rd in the Spring/Summer Series in 2018 final point standings despite no feature wins but showed alot of strong runs behind track champion Sam Petty and National champion Kris Jackson in the track standings.

With last season his 1st in the car, the family team learned alot as the cars was a former Kris Jackson Car he ran in 2016 and 2017.

” We bought the car from Kris after the 2017 season and really had to start from square-one, but had help from Kris, Tony Jackson at TJR Racing and Jim Ruble along with my Dad as we put a Ruble Engine in it. The car was fast and I had to learn how to adjust to it. Talk about from night to day,

Despite only running mostly Midway, Tyler finished in the top 50 and was getting closer to a feature win. The team hit a small rough spot with a couple of weeks of DNF and were searching for the issue.and found a couple of items at a special event at Lake Ozark as they placed Tony Jackson Jr. in the car. Being able to watch and the feedback from not only Tony, But Kris, the 8K team was right in the hunt and topped off the season with The Bud Perry Memorial win holding back Kris Jackson for the win.

Tyler, the youngest of The Knudtson Brothers watched older Brother Brandon run up front in the Bomber and Pure Stock Classes in earlier Midway seasons.

Joining the 8K team again this season will be Cave Creek Cabin River Resort, Sho-Me Hail and Dent Removal, South Side ATV Salvage along with Knudtson’s 32 Garage and TJR Racing all of Lebanon.
