PEVELY, MO – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series will return to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 Saturday, April 27, after the stars of the Series put on an edge-of-your seat race last year.

A three-way battle for the lead last year between Ian Madsen, Sheldon Haudenschild and Daryn Pittman demonstrated on the 1/3-mile track why the World of Outlaws is The Greatest Show on Dirt.

Madsen, the 2018 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, charged pass reigning Series champion Donny Schatz on the outside to take command of the lead at the start of the race. Haudenschild soon after mimicked Madsen’s move, racing by Schatz on the outside. He then began to hunt Madsen down.

The two dueled for laps, trading slide jobs every corner. But as they did, 2013 Series champion and 2017 winner at the track, Daryn Pittman inched closer to them every lap.

Haudenschild eventually bested Madsen for the lead, but the Australian didn’t give up. He continued to pressure Haudenschild right back, and while he did, Pittman was able to pass both of them for the lead on the bottom, but a caution came out before the lap could be completed.

While it put Pittman back behind the two, he made quick time of getting back by them both when the race went back green. From there he powered to his second win in-a-row at the track, with Schatz close behind him in second.

This year’s race is shaping up to be just as exciting. Pittman and Schatz have been a consistent threat for the win every race and are in a tight battle for the points lead with current leader, Brad Sweet.

Pittman will look for his third win of the year at the track – having won both races at Volusia Speedway Park – and his third win in-a-row at the raceway.

Other than Pittman, Logan Schuchart and David Gravel are the only other drivers, so far, this year to win more than one race. Schuchart is the last driver to win a Series race at the track and is riding the high of claiming his first victory at the historic Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Gravel has also previously won at the track, in 2016, and will look to claim another victory for his new Jason Johnson Racing – headquartered not far from the Pevely, Mo. track.

Tickets for the race are available at WorldofOutlaws.com/tix or by calling 844-DIRT-TIX.

If you can’t make it to the track, be sure to watch the race LIVE on DIRTVISION.com.

Following the Series’ visit to Federated Auto Parts Raceway, The Greatest Show on Dirt will make its next stop Sunday, April 28, at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill.
