Tony Stewart scored his 2nd USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters main event of the 2019 season at I-75 Raceway on Saturday night.

Sweetwater, TN – April 27, 2019 – Tony Stewart raced from the K&N Filters Pole Position into the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane on Saturday night in the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour 30-lap main event at I-75 Raceway to capture his second USCS win of the 2019 season. Stewart raced into the lead in turn one of the first lap and never looked back on his way to the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane. His only challenge was keeping first two-time USCS National Champion, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee and then Sunbury, Pennsylvania’s Mark Smith at bay after five re-starts following caution periods on the slick circular 1/3 mile oval.

Morgan Turpen chased Stewart for most of the 30-lap contest while holding off Johnny Bridges, then Mark Smith for most of the race. She had won three out of the four previous events USCS had contested over the past three seasons at the speedway. Mark Smith, who had worked his way from a fifth place starting position, raced past Terry Gray into third place by lap 25, and then, got past Turpen for the runner-up spot. Smith would chase Stewart for the final three laps and appeared to be reeling the three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion (Stewart) in but, couldn’t get there in the remaining time.

Smith got his second runner-up finish of the weekend while Turpen had to settle for the K&N Filters Podium Award in third place. Justin Barger charged from his eighth place starting position into fourth place and Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee, who raced as high as third place, followed Barger across the finish line in the fifth spot.

The current USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour National points leader, Danny Smith from Chillicothe, Ohio led the next group in sixth place. The evening’s Butlerbuilt Third Heat winner, Brad Bowden from Hernando, Mississippi finished seventh followed by the previous night’s main event winner at Smoky Mountain Speedway, Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina finished in the eighth position. The 2017 USCS Rookie of the Year, Brandon Taylor from Cumming, Georgia finished ninth and Tony Agin from Fort Myers, Florida who ranks in the top five of the USCS National rounded out the top ten drivers.

In preliminary action, Terry Gray won the USCS Hoosier Racing Tire Speed Dash. for the USCS Southern Thunder regional series. Danny Smith won the second 5-lap USCS Hoosier Speed Dash. Mark Smith won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Tony Stewart won the Brown and Miller Racing Solutions Second Heat and Brad Bowden closed out the qualifying heat race action by winning his second qualifying heat of the weekend by collecting the victory in the Butlerbuilt Tird Heat. Justin Barger garnered the evening’s Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger award after advancing the most positions in the main event.

The next event on the 2019 USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters will be the USCS “Sprint Car Maina” event on Saturday, May 4th at Lexington 104 Speedway near Lexington, Tennessee.
