Kids Bike Races & CEFCU Kids Club To Highlight Saturday Racing At Macon Speedway
7 Racing Divisions To Take The Track

(Macon, IL) This coming Saturday night, May 4, Macon Speedway will go back green on the 2019 season with a seven division program plus CEFCU Kid’s Club and Kid’s Bike Races.

Leading into this week, Warrensburg, IL’s Dakota Ewing and Carlinville, IL’s Cody Maguire are tied atop the point standings.  Ewing is coming off of a win two weeks ago, while Maguire has two top five finishes.  The youth movement continues in the third spot as Colby Sheppard, of Williamsville, IL holds that position after two top ten finishes.  Chris Dick and Donny Koehler complete the top five.

Tommy Sheppard, Jr. of New Berlin, IL was the champion one season ago in the BillingsleyRewards.com Modifieds.  Sheppard has had a good start this year, claiming a win and a second place finish in the two races so far.  However, Rodney Standerfer, of Summerfield, IL, has done just as well with a win and a second place finish and is tied with Sheppard up top.  Guy Taylor, Jared Thomas, and Tim Hancock complete the top five.

Mt. Olive, IL’s Tim Hancock has a perfect record early on, going 2-for-2 in the Neal Tire & Auto Pro Mod division.  Decatur, IL’s Nick Justice is second in the standings, while Chad Evans, Tim Riech, and Brady Lynch round out the top three.  The Pro Mod class has had 28 different drivers take the track already this season.

Back on the card this week are the DIRTcar Sportsman.  Two weeks ago, Dennis Vandermeersch, of Springfield, IL dominated the feature.  Terry Myers, of Buffalo, IL, made his way through the field to take the second spot, while Mitch Ringler, Joel Irvin, and Tim Bedinger round out the top five in points.

Terry Reed, of Cerro Gordo, IL, leads the Archer’s Alley Street Stock points by just two markers over Monticello, IL’s Darrell Dick.  Bub Russell, Gene Reed, and Bobby Beiler complete the top five after two weeks of racing.  The top five in points is dominated by Macon Speedway veterans.

Decatur, IL’s Brady Reed leads the standings in the DIRTcar Hornet class.  Carter Dart is second in the points, while Billy Mason, Marty Sullivan, and Steve Stine complete the top five.  Reed and Chuck Johnson have picked up early season wins.

Rounding out the racing program will be a visit from the DIRTcar KidModz.  The division is geared toward kids 8-16 years of age interested in Modified racing.  The series was designed to get kids started in the sport.  At most events, a handful of kids compete in the KidModz races.

At intermission, kids bike races will be held.  All girls and boys ages 15 and under are welcome to bring their bikes to compete.  Helmets are highly recommended as well.  In addition, CEFCU Kids Club will be held before the races in the pavilion.

Pit gates will open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00.  Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and free for kids 11 and under.
