Started coming here in 1958, sat on the backstretch, getting dirt throne in my face and loving it!The pit entrance was on the backstretch in the middle of the grandstand. Watched Bill Pezo, the Workman brothers, Bobby Neuesche, Dwight Barbeau and in 1963 the great Don Klein pulled into the pits with a beautiful rig, pulled by a red 1963 Galaxy 500XL with a 406 with try power, my eyes lit up. I was a lucky young man!
Wow the fastest man in the Midwest..........Danny moser! Seriously there he is packing the track. What fun memories! Those st charles races with Klein, Hammerle and moser battling for features and track records were awesome! Thanks for sharing this pic!
What class did this run in.looks like a wedge late model but short?
I barely remember that track before the inside wall was put in, and if I remember right (I was about 3) a limited sportsman hit the outside wall in turn 4 got knocked out and went into the infield and hit Hammerle's car?
I wonder if Mike still has this car?
Looks like mike did a good job of stealing the Illinois guys sponsors.
They used to pack the track in the opposite direction
Why are the cars on the track going clockwise(wrong way)? Don't remember that
Josh Ray yes this is early 80s I 55 this is looking from turn 1 looking into turn 4 down the front stretch
Is that I-55?
Would be cool to see those
Are there any pictures of this car in a race? Just curious as I have seen this car, but never seen any pictures of it during a race.
