What is most disappointing about this is the fact that you tried to find Tammy or Kevin Friday night at the track to voice your immediate safety concern but could not find either of them. Then on Saturday morning you got both of their phone numbers from here on the site to call them, but they never returned your calls. Then on Sunday you left "Revin" a private message here on STLracing to share your input, but again no answer.

Oh wait you didn't do any of those, you waited until Wednesday afternoon to make a random post, albeit with a legitimate concern, for them to hopefully see.
And we wonder why race tracks across the country are closing, everyone wanting negativity and public attention..

A few friends of mine raced at Saugus Speedway in Southern California and when the bleachers there were found to be structurally inadequate during an inspection they turned it into a opportunity and found a sponsor from a local lumber yard that supplied construction materials. They continued to sponsor the races for several years afterward so really you're the one who's being negative.

Not bashing the track by any means, but I definitely agree that the bleachers could use some work. I would go a lot more often but I don't like to take the kids because of this very reason.

if work is done don't replace with metal. just go to gateway any time during the summer & you'll see why!!! still by far the best facility in the area & if i had kids would not be a reason not to come. playground they have is top notch.

Hey Darin Smartmouth Walker i shouldnt have to do any of this its been a problem for years and not just in one spot. i go to races all over and they are easily the worst bleachers i have seen in a while and in the whole region. pretty sad for a facility like this.

I never said that the condition of the bleachers was or wasn't a problem. What I said and apparently you didn't pick up on, was there are ways to seek resolution to problems other than on a public forum board.
Sincerely

Saugus Speedway ended up being closed down because LA County condemned the bleachers

No I don't think so.. . It was shut down because the owner suddenly discovered that a business partner of many years had been stealing money the whole time. He became disillusioned with the race track and shut it down. They still continued to have the swap meet for a long time.

I would very much disagree on it being the best "facility" in the area. The track is great, racing is good, they do a lot for drivers and fans, but as far as the facility itself I don't know if you can compete with Highland's grandstands.

"The track closed unexpectedly on July 19, 1995 in the middle of the season after the grandstands had been red-tagged and condemned by the County of Los Angeles, and have since been torn down."

The owner probably said "Screw this - I'm getting robbed by my business partner and the grandstands are falling down, I'm outta here"

lol i picked up on it this has been a problem for a long time they know its there they just havent fixed it.must be to busy building bars and go kart tracks to worry about safety i guess.

Highland has very nice grandstands. i didnt say tri city was the best facility i said a facility like this. i would have to say pevely has the best facility grounds and track in the area.jmo

i should have said best track in my opinion from the standpoint of getting best races in. i go to all. highland is nice with the stands when it's hot, but i like to sit close & highland is furthest away of the group. pevely is a very close 2nd. if the county would solve the road situation so the number of cancelled events was reduced it would help. it was first with info board that tri has since added & in my mind has the best picturesque view. the view from the space between turns 3 & 4 is just flat out great, you just have to stand to get it.

I think you're right and I had the story wrong. They were offered a sponsor to fix the bleachers and get them up to code but the fact that the owner had been ripped off for years made him say, "heck with it"! My friends who raced there said it was a really challenging track with zero banking. Ken Schrader won his first truck race there asked one of them, "how do you guys get around this parking lot"? I believe he must have figured it out!

Tammy and Kevin still waiting on my check from the bmod feature last Friday. Waited in line for over 30 mins, Tammy came up and told us bmod drivers it would be another 30 mins for checks because they were teaching bmods ok no problem. Tammy said if we turned in our transponders and wanted to leave they would mail our checks Monday. I left my transponder and address with them and haven't received my check. Happened last year at the end of the season at the big bmod show still haven't received my check from that night either. When will we receive our checks???????
