CARTERSVILLE, GA – The highlight of Week 22 for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies will be the 2[sup]nd[/sup] Annual Southern Street Stock Nationals this Friday and Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS that will be co-sanctioned by the Mississippi Street Stock Series.
There will be a pair of $1,000-to-win races on Friday night that will feature odd-numbered qualifiers in the first race, and the even numbered qualifiers in the second race. These two races will be NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 22 point races.
The Saturday night race of the 2[sup]nd[/sup] Annual Southern Street Stock Nationals will be a non-points race paying $3,000-to-win, as it exceeds the $1,000-to-win cap of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division. The Saturday night race will start 30 cars lined up in ten rows, three wide. There will also be a special Non-Qualifiers Race on Saturday night.
There are three other NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division races on the Week 22 schedule of events with a Friday night event at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL, and a pair of Saturday night races at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS leads the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 693 points, seven points away from a 700-point “Perfect Season” represented by 14 50-point wins. Idom will be trying to net on the lowest weekly point total of his best 14, which is a 47, and he will also be looking for his 13[sup]th[/sup] win of the season.
David Windham of Florala, AL is second in the standings with a best 14 week total of 666 points. Windham will be trying to net on a 43 in his next start. Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS is third in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 657 points. Leftwich will be trying to net on a 41.
Branden Harris of Molino, FL is fourth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 644 points, and he will be trying to net on a 38. Dean Shaw of Defuniak Springs, FL is fifth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 631 points, and he will be trying to net on a 38.
The defending NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Champion Trey Bright of Coker, AL is sixth in the standings with 629 and one more week to earn full points. If Bright can pick up a 50-point win in Week 22 competition, it would give him 679 points and vault him up to the second spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings.
Another driver looking to move up the points list is Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS, who is just behind the seventh-place driver in the standings, Mike Lane of Pace, FL, who has 627 points. Whittington is eighth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 621 points, and has one more week to earn full points. A 50-point win for Whittington puts him right up in the Top 5 of the point standings.
Michael Williams of Saucier, MS is ninth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 619 points, and he will be trying to net on a 39. James “Scooter” Ware of West Point, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the standings with a best 14 week total of 615 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41.
