CARTERSVILLE, GA – The July4th Holiday Weekend, or Week 15 of the 27-week 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies season, will be a busy one. There are nine races on the schedule of events over three nights at eight tracks in four different states.
Week 15 for the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division begins on Thursday night with Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL hosting a $750-to-win race as part of the Salute To America Nationals with the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series.
The NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division will also participate in Night Two of the Salute To America Nationals by making their first visit ever to Penton Raceway in Penton, AL for a $500-to-win race. Hattiesburg Speedway will also be in action on Friday night, the first of two nights of NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division action for the Hattiesburg, MS track.
Hattiesburg Speedway will also be in action on Saturday night with a Week 14 Make-Up Race. Also hosting Saturday night Week 15 races will be Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL with a $1,000-to-win race, Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN returns to action, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
The top two drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings, Richie Stephens of Salem, AL and Branden Harris of Molino, FL, can reach the 14-week mark of their respective seasons and Week 15 could be the last week they can earn full points.
Stephens leads the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 621 points, and Harris is in the second spot with 602 points. With the best 14 weekly point totals counting as a driver’s season total, Stephens and Harris will begin netting points after they reach the 14-week mark by trying to replace their lowest weekly total with a higher one.
Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is third in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 523 points. If Jarrell runs both nights at Hattiesburg Speedway to earn points for both Week 14 and Week 15, he too will reach the 14-week mark of his 2015 season.
Larry Faulk of Monroeville, AL is fourth with 495 point0s, while Bo Bailey of Milton, FL and David Williamson of Seminary, MS are tied for fifth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 493 points apiece. Bubba McGhee of Atmore, AL is seventh with 464 points and Kevin Mitchell of Pensacola, FL is eighth with 458 points.
Jay Geddie of Ellisville, MS is ninth with 350 points, and Brooks Strength of Raymond, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 347 points. Strength will be a driver to watch in the coming weeks, as he has the highest Weekly Point Average, or WPA, among the Top 20 in the point standings at 49.67 out of a possible 50.
The second highest WPA belongs to Steve Pate of Heflin, AL at 47.78. Pate is 11th in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 430 points, and another driver to watch in the upcoming weeks. Stephens has the third highest WPA at 47.77, one has to go to the 17th-place in the point standings, Calvin Cook of Pace, FL, to find the fourth highest WPA at 46.38.
Harris has the fifth highest WPA at 46.31 and Cliff Childers of Terry, MS, who is 12th in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings, has the sixth highest WPA at 45.44. Falk and Geddie are tied for the seventh highest WPA at 45, while Bailey and Williamson share the ninth highest WPA at 44.82.
Drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27. The $5,000 National point fund will pay $2,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.
