CARTERSVILLE, GA – Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS has announced they will run the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division as a part of their weekly racing program in 2016. Drivers in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division at Greenville Speedway will compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund.
In competing for the National NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point fund, Greenville Speedway drivers will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division tracks throughout the country.
“Our Street Stock guys are good with this and about half of our cars now are NeSmith legal Street Stocks,” Greenville Speedway co-promoter James Clolinger said. “A few of our Street Stock racers are already using the Chevrolet Performance 602 Engine in an effort to save some money and still be competitive. Our drivers are also looking forward to running for the National Championship.”
The rules for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division gives the competitor the option of using the $3,495 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine, which is quickly becoming the engine of choice due to its price, ease of accessibility and maintenance, and durability. Eight of the top ten drivers in the 2015 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings, including the top four drivers, were using the Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.
Greenville Speedway drivers in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division will compete with other drivers at sanctioned tracks across the country through a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season that runs from March 21, 2016 and runs through September 25, 2016.
Clolinger also said adding the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division to the weekly line up at Greenville Speedway will give them more options for special shows and to be a part of the growth of the Division.
“The way the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division and the Mississippi Street Stock Series have worked together for the past three years with the same rules have made this the fastest growing class in weekly racing and that will give us the opportunity to sanction the special shows we already have to make them grow, and we may even add a couple more higher paying races,” Clolinger said. “NeSmith is expanding the Street Stocks to the West, and that will help us as well.
Greenville Speedway has been a part of the NeSmith Racing family of tracks since 2007, and run the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models as a part of their weekly program. Greenville Speedway is a two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Track of the Year, and has also hosted several NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events through the years.
