Inside Line Promotions - VERNON, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2015) - Joe Trenca was derailed by a broken nose wing on Tuesday during a Lucas Oil Empire Sprint Series event at Utica-Rome Speedway.

"We drew pretty bad to start the night," he said. "We started at the back of our heat race and made it up to fifth."

That was good enough to lock the Mucci Motorsports driver into the main event, which he started on the outside of the seventh row.

"We got up to ninth or 10th in the first 10 laps or so," he said. "I got a car every lap or two. It's a track we've struggled at, but we were going well. Then the nose wing broke and blew off the car. From there it was hard to do anything. I just got way too tight."

Trenca held on to an ill-handling race car during the second half of the feature as he ended with a 13th-place result.

He is slated to compete this Friday and Saturday at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, N.Y., with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints the first night and the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on Saturday.

"I'm excited we get to run there two nights in a row," he said. "We had a good run there last time so I can't wait to get back out there. Friday night a top five would be great and on Saturday if we could put it in the top 10 that would be the biggest goal."

Trenca scored a sixth-place result at the 5/8-mile oval during his lone race there earlier this season.
