Dan Drinan's incredible crash in 1992 at the Springfield Mile

I was there that day. We were sitting in the grandstands and absolutely sure Dan had actually flipped outside the track. Winner Stan Fox was also in an equally horrific crash at Indy three years later.

    red hill speedway in sumner

The last time I was by the track it still looked like it could be race ready at any time. I'm pretty sure that was in June when i was in Illinois. Every once in a great while there will be another rumor that Tony Stewart is going to buy it, but that's about like any of 100 different tracks at...

    Randy Korte World Update

Eldora's site just posted an invert of 6 was drawn. Should end up as being outside of row 2 in his heat if I figured right.

How many of you will be at the World this weekend?

This is really the first full year I've lived in Indiana. I made the 5 hour trip from Olney, IL a couple of times for the Dream. This is the first year where I could get tickets early enough in the year and it was feasible to do the World.

How many of you will be at the World this weekend?

First time for the World for me. Sitting in turn one section SA. Fortunately I get to camp out at home only about an hour and a half drive for me.

    Big E cell reception??

I try to make my last call between Rossburg and the track if I have to make one. Trying to make a call at the track can be really difficult. I know I used to do pretty well walking down to the south end of the track, but haven't tried that in a while.

    wings or no wings

I prefer non wing. They lack a lot of the speed of the winged cars, but produce a lot more side by side racing. I've seen good winged races, but not nearly as often. I think a lot depends on where you live too though. I live in Indiana now where there are a ton of really good non wing drivers...

    Tri state speedway tonight!!!!

been checking over on indiana open wheel, and there hasn't been anything posted other than Jon Stanbrough is not going to be there. If anybody is able to put something togeterh that quick or get a ride it would probably be Levi Jones.

Projected USAC Silver Crown entries for DuQuoin

Sorry guys I'm used to Angell Park being a Sunday night track. I forget the Fireman's Nationals is a Saturday event. The list as posted should be fairly accurate outside of Pierce. I've seen nothing on Tracy Hines or the whole TSR program not showing up for this race. Unless I find...

Projected USAC Silver Crown entries for DuQuoin

I'd say they will get 25 to 30 there are at least 3 other open wheel races on Sunday night. The fireman nationals at Sun Prairie has a big payout and Haubstadt is running MSCS which always has a pretty good purse for non wing sprints. I'd say you can pretty much mark Aaron Pierce off the...

    DTWC moved to Lawrenceberg In.

Non-wing sprints are on the card to draw locals. Indiana is not a late model state at all. They put on a really good show and in my experience put on a much better show than winged sprints.

    DTWC moved to Lawrenceberg In.

This will now be a 3 class show. The non wing sprints will also be running a $5,000 to win show. I probably would have checked this race out myself as well, but I will instead be heading to the World 100 for the first time. I must say that as much as I miss the tracks back in Illinois and...

Any drivers coming over to the Summernationals at Haubstadt Sunday?

Not sure what the payout is. You'd have to call the track at (812) 768-5995.

    aftershock....

According to the USGS we're up to 23 earthquakes since Friday. I think I've felt 6 now. Last nights started out as a rather minor tremor and then at the end it was pretty loud with some pretty good shaking, but it was short and ended rather abruptly. Last nights event has been downgraded...

    Allgaier Finishes 2nd in Iowa

Justin really looks like the early favorite to win the series this year. Someone needs to step up and give Frank Kimmel some sponsership and it could shape up to be an amazing three way battle between Justin, Frank and Matt Carter. Speed really needs to get on board for the whole deal as well...

Danica Patrick wins Indy Car race!

I don't think their is a minimum driver weight, but it as actual to do with weights they put in the car. The whole car with driver has to weight the same, so basically they can add or take away weight to make it even. Great from a PR standpoint for the IRL. The entire year so far is...

what heck was that about 445am

Well just shortly after 4:30 here in Olney, IL it was quite an event. We're about 20 miles from the epicenter. I woke up when it was happening and the bed was shaking and there was a roar outside. My dad said he woke up to what he said was a rolling thunder sound prior to the shaking. We...

CONGRATS Justin Allgaier on your Salem ARCA win today!

Non Wing Sprint Cars This Summer

I was skeptical years and years ago when Indiana switched over to non wing but they've produced soem of the best racing I've seen. I'm not surprised it was so rough with all the rain they've had over there. Hopefully they'll have a dry week with USAC having a double header at Gas City this...
