St. Charles, MO (February 27, 2003) Lance Kobush’s racing career is proving to be on the fast track. The 32 year old from Montgomery City, MO made the moved from professional motocross and supercross motorcycle racing to racing cars on dirt less than two years ago. After trying out a stock car and winged sprint car on the dirt a few times, Kobush bought a U.M.P. Modified and ran his first full season on the dirt at Montgomery County Speedway in New Florence, MO in 2002. Kobush adapted quickly to the open wheel car and won several feature events and finished fourth in the track points championship behind some very good drivers including former U.M.P. National Modified Champion John Seets who claimed the track championship as well as the Missouri State U.M.P. Championship. Kobush became a fan favorite at Montgomery County Speedway because of his driving style as well as his post race antics, which included doing a dance on the front stretch after each victory.

Kobush has bigger plans for the 2003 season, which include competing in the 12-event USAC Weld Silver Crown Series, whose season kicks off March 23, 2003 at Phoenix International Raceway. Kobush’s opportunity in the USAC Silver Crown Series comes from a very well known St. Louis race team owner. Dr. Jim (Doc) Logan, who is the owner of Logan Racing, currently fields Indy Racing League and USAC Silver Crown cars for drivers such as Donnie Beechler and Stevie Reeves. Dr. Jim Logan, who was the first African-American Indy Racing League team owner, recently was awarded the Wendell Scott Award for accomplishments in motorsports by African Americans.

Kobush will field a Beast Chassis with power provided by Martin Engine and Machine as he makes his run for the Rookie of the Year title in the USAC Silver Crown Series.

Kobush will also continue to compete in the U.M.P. Modified division at Montgomery County Speedway and other tracks in the St. Louis area when his schedule permits.
