‘DIRT NATION’ Welcomes Kemp, Shaw, Silva, Furman

Dirt Nation presented by Switchme.net will be offering an exciting show this coming Monday evening when a promoter, a car builder and two top dirt Late Model stars appear. Dirt Nation presented by Switchme.net is the fastest growing dirt racing radio program in the country and airs every Monday evening from 8:00 – 10:00 PM eastern standard time at: http://www.racetalklive.com/ Appearing on the Monday December 6 broadcast will be Larry Kemp, Larry Shaw, John Silva and Matt Furman.

Larry Kemp will appear in his capacity as the new promoter of the famed Eldora Speedway that was recently purchased by Tony Stewart from Earl & Berniece Baltes. Kemp has operated a number of tracks over the years in Iowa and Alabama primarily and also administered a couple series. Over the years Kemp’s work has earned him more than a handful of honors and recognition, including being named Regional Promoter of the Year in 1984, 1986, 1997 and 1998 as well as the 1998 Auto Racing Promoter of the Year by the RPM (Racing Promotion Monthly) Promoter’s Workshop. Kemp will enter his 25th season as a promoter at Eldora Speedway.

Larry Shaw will also appear and will discuss his 25th anniversary in the dirt Late Model business. Shaw is the famed car builder (dirt Late Models and Modifieds) who is an inductee of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame. A former promoter, Shaw’s business, Larry Shaw Race Cars, is nationally known and respected for the quality of workmanship and the high success rate drivers achieve in his product.

2004 Western Xtreme Dirt Car Series (WXDCS) champion John Silva of Fremont, CA will also be featured. A dirt Late Model driver since 1998 (after many years running support divisions) Silva has quickly established himself among the top winners in the sport west of the Rockies. After winning the Carquest Late Model series title in 2003 Silva, of Fremont, CA, came back to run the newly renamed and invigorated Western Xtreme Dirt Car Series sponsored by Carquest and successfully defended his title.

Additionally, Iowa star dirt Late Model racer Matt Furman will be on hand to discuss his career and 2004 season. Furman completed his BSE in Mechanical Engineering from the Univ. of Iowa in May 2003. Currently he is working on his Masters Degree from the Univ. of Iowa and also races a full schedule of high profile dirt Late Model events. During 2004 he finished 11th in WDRL series points. During 2004 Furman, 26, raced with WDRL, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, MARS, NCRA, MLRA, UMP Stacker 2 Xtreme Series and several UMP Summernational events.
