Seventy five cars checked in on a hot and muggy Saturday night for RSC Equipment Rental Appreciation Race Night at Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri for a great night of competition in four divisions. The Central Auto Racing Boosters (C.A.R.B.) presented the Larry Kaster Memorial Awards during the intermission break with Donnie Dannar, Brett Wood, Danny White, and Ethan Isaacs picking up the awards presented by Dixie and Carl Kaster, wife and son of the late Larry Kaster, who the awards are named after. The ‘Mighty’ Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks, and B-Modifieds competed in eleven heat races and four feature events throughout the evening on a competitive and fast racing surface.

Three heat races were contested in the B-Modifieds as twenty cars raced throughout the night. Dean Wille sailed to the checkered flag in heat race number one ahead of Lucas Isaacs, A.J. Tice, and Phillip Wright. In the second heat race, current point’s leader Scotty Martin led the field to the checkers ahead of Bobby Raybourn, Michael King, and Rusty Trimble. In the third and final heat race, a great battle for the win saw four competitors racing hard with Brian Ziegler doing all he could to hold back the field. ‘Ziggy’ held them off until something went wrong on the car and he had to leave the track. That left Chris Brockway in control and ultimately going on to his first heat race win of the year ahead of Mark Evinger, Jeremy Lile, and Stephen Barbour. In the feature event, Scotty Martin and Dean Wille brought the field to the green flag but a pileup with seven cars in corner three forced a complete restart. Martin led Wille for the first two laps until a caution flew for Sonny Woods spinning car off of turn three, once the field went back to green Martin was on cruise control in the lead. Bryan Montgomery ran strong until mechanical troubles forced him to the infield and out of the event. Martin retained his lead at lap eleven with Wille, Brockway, Jeremy Lile and Ethan Isaacs in the top five. Ethan Isaacs and Jeremy Lile raced hard for several laps right to the finish with some great side-by-side competition; however, in the end Scotty Martin held off Dean Wille and claimed his seventh feature win of the year. Thirteenth starting Ethan Isaacs brought his ride home in third, followed by Jeremy Lile, bobby Raybourn and Stephen Barbour rounding in the top six. Next weekend the B-Modifieds will battle for 25 laps in a $600-to-win, $100-to-start feature race event.

Twelve Street Stocks signed in for action and two early evening heat races. In heat one, Brett Nail out of Raytown outran long-distance traveler Tammy Korff of Fulton, Missouri who finished second just ahead of a hard-charging Nic Bennet. Chad Eickleberry rounded out the top four. In the second heat race, Herb Dannar, the current point’s leader, took his fifth heat race win of the year ahead of John Miller, new dad Michael Mullins, and Dale Atkinson. For the feature race, Brett Nail and Herb Dannar set sail for fifteen laps with the field in tow. A couple early race cautions involving Anthony Witham slowed the field with Witham having to leave the race as Nail led the field on each of the ensuing restarts. On lap nine, Eickleberry had to leave the track with a left front flat tire bring his night to an early end. As the field went back to green a spin by Roger Stone and David Anderson forced another restart with Nail continuing to lead Dannar, John Miller, and Tammy Korff. Eight cars remained on the track for the final restart as the cars settled into position. At the conclusion, Brett Nail claimed the feature win ahead of Herb Dannar, Tammy Korff, John Miller, Nic Bennet, and Dale Atkinson inside the top six.

A field of nineteen late models signed in for three qualifying heat races. Kevin ‘the Kid’ Coyne took heat race number one over Brett Rollert, Shad Badder and Bob Test, who made his first appearance at CMS in quite some time. Track points leader Jon Binning comfortably drove to victory lane in the second heat ahead of Danny Monroe, Randy Ainsworth, and David Angell. Mike Ryun and Steve Clancy had a great battle for the lead in heat three with Ryun eventually taking the win as Gary Billings, Jr. brought his MastersBilt late model home second ahead of Steve Clancy and Kevin Kaiser. All nineteen cars on hand started the feature race with Rollert and Coyne racing hard for second just behind early race leader Jon Binning. A caution flag flew shortly after the start of the race for the spinning car of Danny Monroe as Binning brought the field back to green with Rollert second. David Angell and Joe Bartlett also spun down the front stretch with another caution flag flying as a result just one lap later. With only one lap in the books, Binning got things back underway with Rollert and Coyne still battling for second. Badder and Ryun battled close for fourth spot with Clancy and Billings in on the action as well. By lap five Derek Nevels’ car came to a stop in the hot-pit lane bringing out the caution flag one more time. Monroe’s car stalled on the ensuing restart as his night came to an end on lap six. Binning, Rollert, Coyne, Ryun, Badder, and Clancy were the top six as the field went back to green but Jeremy Watts spun as the field took the green with another yellow flag incident. Rollert challenged Binning as the green flew once again using both the high and low lanes. The two ran side-by-side for several laps in a fantastic race for the win with the fans in the stands on their feet. Rollert actually led few of the late-race laps with Binning close by as the two had a classic battle to the checkered flags. Binning edged Rollert at the line for his fifth feature win of the year with Rollert in second and Ryun coming home third. Clancy claimed fifth position just ahead of twelfth-starting Kevin Kaiser at the line in sixth.

Three qualifying heat races in the ‘Mighty’ Modifieds sorted the lineup for the night’s 20-lap main event. ‘Movin’ Dave Meyer powered his way to victory lane with a new power source under the hood ahead of Clinton, Missouri driver Doug Walrath as Don Crnkovich finished third with Dennis Walrath in fourth at the finish. Warrensburg driver Dean Wille ran strong in heat race number two and appeared to have things in control but a temperature spike in the engine forced him to shut down the car, allowing point’s leader Aaron Marrant to pick up his eighth heat race win of the year. Jake Richards outdueled ‘Fast’ Richard Layne for second with Steve Dison of Grandview in fourth. In the third and final heat race, ‘Smokin’ Joe Walker of Harrisonville raced to his second heat race win of the year ahead of Tim Karrick, Mark Dotson, and Joey Lile. From the start of the race it was obvious the modified main event was going to be a barn burner. Early on Joe Walker, Dave Meyer, and Aaron Marrant raced three wide on several occasions for the lead until Walker spun as the field took the yellow flag for a separate incident. After a few green flag laps were in the books, Meyer led the field by lap seven with Marrant in second and Jake Richards third. At the halfway point, Meyer had nearly a half a straightaway lead until caution flew for Walker, whose car came to a complete stop in turn four, ultimately ending his night. Meyer led the car to the green yet again with Marrant in hot pursuit. Close racing for nearly every position throughout the field went on for several laps until a scary incident with Buddy Benedict on the back straightaway. His car went upside down after heavy contact with the large white tire. Thankfully Benedict was okay as his night came to an end along with Justin Johnson before the field went back to green-flag action with thirteen laps complete. Meyer again held off Marrant and Karrick with Mark Dotson and Don Crnkovich closing in on the leaders. On lap seventeen Dotson’s car got a little too high and he went over the edge in turn three, bringing out a caution flag on lap seventeen just as he made his way to fourth position. With just three laps to go Meyer again led the field to the green with Marrant and Karrick battling for second Meyer. At the end of the 20 laps, no one had anything for Meyer as he cruised to his first CMS feature race victory of the year, and his thirty-first win at the track. Marrant held off Karrick for second at the line as Chad Staus had his strongest run of the year by claiming fourth behind Karrick. Terry Schultz had a strong run to a fifth place finish ahead of Don Dannar in sixth, Crnkovich seventh, Dennis Walrath eighth, Jake Richards ninth and Blake Sedgwick in tenth.
