‘Showdown’ and ‘Rumble’ Next Up For World Of Outlaws Late Model Series!!!

It sound’s like a good old fashioned western. A ‘showdown’, a ‘rumble’ and ‘outlaws’. Three ingredients needed to have a knock down, drag out wild affair. But, this clash will take place on a dirt race track involving outlaws shooting 800 horsepower and not a six-gun.

The ‘outlaws’ in this scenario are the stars and cars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. The ‘showdown’ is the $10,000 to win ‘Spring Showdown In Sarver Town 50’ to be held April 7 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. The ‘rumble’ is the ‘Rumble On The River 50’ scheduled for April 8 at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, Va. paying $10,000 to the winner of the SPEED covered event.

Defending WoO Late Model Series Champion Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark. won last years rain shortened ‘Spring Showdown In Sarver Town’ while Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Penn. captured the August event at Lernerville Speedway. Frank echos the comments of several drivers about Lernerville Speedway.

“I just love this place. It’s well groomed”, said Frank after his 2005 win. “The spring race this year (2005) it rained and the track was a little rough but there’s nothing you can do about that. It’s Mother Nature at her worst. When the track is like it was tonight where it’s racy all over this is one of the best places in the country. We need to come here about ten times a year!”

Most of the notes the drivers accumulated from last years events at Lernerville Speedway can be discarded. New clay was added to the Lernerville Speedway surface after the 2005 season was completed. That will throw a curve ball at all the drivers when they return April 7 to the Sarver oval.

Bill Sawyer’s state of the art Virginia Motor Speedway will also have some new wrinkles for race teams when the Saluda, Va. facility welcomes the World of Outlaws Late Model Series April 8 for a second ever appearance at the immaculate facility. Extensive work was put in to the racing surface at V.M.S. during and after completion of the 2005 season. That hard work has paid off.

“The drivers will be surprised when they return to Virginia Motor Speedway”, said Dave Seay, Director of Marketing/Public Relations. “A ton of work went into the track surface. From the second half of the 2005 season and on there were multiple grooves and the racing was fantastic. We had practice Saturday and the track stayed excellent. It should be a great show for SPEED with racing all over the track.”

New track surfaces. Just one more ingredient added to the drama of the ‘showdown’ and the ‘rumble’ for the ‘outlaws’. It will be exciting and intense to see who remains standing at the end of these duels.
