SIOUX FALLS, SD (July 6) – "The Wild Child" is returning to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series.
Fan favorite Jac Haudenschild is reuniting with Guy Forbrook and will drive the #5 Wirtgen/MPD Hand Controls Maxim starting Tuesday at Huset’s Speedway. Haudenschild and Forbrook, teammates on Jack Elden’s Pennzoil team in the late 1990s, also raced together in 2002 and early 2003.
"I’m glad to have Jac driving my car again," Forbrooks said. "We’re going to run Huset’s Tuesday and race with the Outlaws most of the rest of the season."
Tyler Walker started the year with a Preliminary Feature victory on opening night of the Cactus Classic at Manzanita Speedway in Forbrook’s car, but has had some scheduling conflicts.
"Tyler is racing with the ASA, NASCAR Busch Series and USAC Silver Crown series," Forbrook said. "We decided we would get a better rhythm if we got a different driver. Hopefully, Tyler will continue racing with the Busch Series and he has a lot of success. He’s a really good racecar driver."
Haudenschild, who drove Jamie Miller’s #6M Elden Racing Maxim for several months, raced past seven cars to finish third in the World of Outlaws Sprint Series "A" Feature at Eldora Speedway June 5th. "The Wild Child" ranked 16th in the 2003 World of Outlaws Sprint Series point standings, the 22nd straight year he has finished in the top 20. He also won the Inaugural Mopar Million non-winged sprint car race at Eldora Speedway last season.
Haudenschild, the Gold Cup Race of Champions winner in 1998 and 1999, has won 39 main events in his World of Outlaws Sprint Series career. He ranked second behind NASCAR Nextel Cup racer Dave Blaney in the 1995 World of Outlaws Sprint Series point standings.
Brian Carlson will also return to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series Tuesday at Huset’s Speedway. The 37-year-old driver from Linden, IN, suffered back injuries in a crash at Rolling Wheels Raceway June 2nd. Carlson ranks 20th in the point standings.
World of Outlaws Sprint Series points leader Steve Kinser will be racing for his third straight and eighth "A" Feature victory of his career at Huset’s Speedway. Danny Lasoski, who is 84 points behind "The King of the Outlaws" in the standings, won track championships at the high-banked, 3/8-mile oval in 1989, 1990 and 1993. Terry McCarl, who won the first World of Outlaws Sprint Series main event of his career June 29th at Joplin 66 Speedway, set the qualifying standard at Huset’s Speedway with a 10.426 second lap on August 17, 2002. McCarl is Huset's Speedway’s defending and five-time champion.
