Millersburg, OH (September 21, 2007) David Scott ended his two year winless drought with the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series after fending off a fierce challenge from Steve Shaver as he led all 50 laps of the inaugural ‘Bob Myers Memorial Fall Showdown’ at Jeff Norris’ Hilltop Speedway, Millersburg, OH.

Shaver and Scott lead the robust 24-car field to green as David quickly jumped to the high-side taking the lead. Defending MACS champion and current championship points leader Jason Covert made a magnificent move catapulting from his sixth place starting position to third during the opening stanza while Jarod Hawkins and Josh McGuire rounded out the top five.

The smooth, extra wide surface provided heart pounding excitement as racers were battling side-by-side throughout the entire field. Shaver intently followed Scott showing him his nose on occasion while local favorite and track champion George Lee, II marched toward the front from 22nd. The first 27 laps were all green and by then Lee had garnered eighth. The first of five cautions flew at the conclusion of that lap permitting the drivers to catch their collective breaths from the extreme torrid pace. The Delaware style restart saw David continue to lead over Steve, Jason, Doug Drown, and McGuire.

After two quick cautions on laps 29 and 32, Scott’s dominance continued as Lee continued to inch his way forward. Lee, now sixth, maneuvered his was past McGuire for fifth on the 32nd circuit. After Lee made the pass for fifth, McGuire’s Rayburn began to smoke as the fourth caution fell on lap 40 for Alex Ferree’s lame mount. During the caution period, Josh came to a stop in turn two with a broken valve spring ending his night.

As racing resumed, Shaver continued to hound Scott with Covert and Drown waiting for one of the two leaders to make a miscue. The front runners were dicing all over the surface trying to grasp the edge the need to gain an advantage on their opponents. 2004 MACS Champion, Rob Blair made a late race charge slicing and dicing his way to sixth from his 16th place start.

The fifth and final caution flew on lap 46 when Rick Aukland, who was running sixth, spun in turn four. This turn of events set up a four lap dash to the checkers. Scott was textbook perfect on his restarts and held the lead to the finish followed by Shaver, Covert, Drown, and Lee. Blair led the next flight of drivers over Scott Peltz; Rod Conley from 14th; Jarod Hawkins, from 16th;and Corey Conley from 15th.
