SEPTEMBER 22, 2015... This Saturday, September 26th, Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona will host the “4th Annual Brawl For It All.” Promoted by Kevin Montgomery, the event will showcase the USAC SouthWest and West Coast Sprint Cars in a quest for bragging rights and a $2,500-to-win payday. With a talented roster of drivers from Arizona, California, and New Mexico, the second round of “Grudge Series" will be joined by 9th World Vapor IMCA Modifieds, Mini Sprints, Arizona Differential Pure Stocks, and Dwarf Cars. In addition, an open practice session will be held on Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. For more event and ticket information, visit www.canyonspeedwaypark.com or call 602.258.RACE (7223).

On January 26, 2013, Canyon Speedway Park hosted the inaugural USAC SouthWest Sprint Car event. Saturday’s race will mark the 40th appearance for the series at their “home track” and R.J. Johnson leads all drivers with 12 Canyon wins. Other wins have been claimed by Bryan Clauson (5), Ryan Bernal (4), Dave Darland (3), Charles Davis Jr. (3), Stevie Sussex (3), and more. Davis won the inaugural “Brawl For It All” in 2012 and Mike Spencer won the following year. Unfortunately, rain washed out last season’s race and Shon Deskins holds the 1-lap qualifying record of 13.827, set on September 28, 2013.

After winning the March 5th “Sin City Showdown” at Las Vegas, Stevie Sussex of Tempe, Arizona sits atop the “Grudge Series” and is fourth in SouthWest points. Piloting Mike Burkhart’s #21AZ Stratis Construction / Westin Diversified RSS, Sussex took the lead from Missouri’s Hunter Schuerenberg on lap twenty-two and held off California’s Ryan Bernal to score the win. Bernal, Matt Mitchell, Davis, and Schuerenberg chased Sussex to the checkered flags and the “Grudge Series” point standings is at the end of this release.

Heading to the “Brawl For It All,” R.J. Johnson of Laveen, Arizona has a 59-point advantage in the USAC SouthWest standings. Driving Bill Michaels’ #77M Kodiak Products / Beal’s Auto Body Sherman, Johnson finished second to Davis last Saturday at Queen Creek. To date, the 2-time champion has eight feature wins, six heat race victories, one top qualifier award, two hard charger awards, nineteen top-10 finishes, and 140 feature laps led. Johnson currently ranks tenth in the “Grudge Series” point chase.

While Saturday’s race is a non-point event for the USAC West Coast Sprints, Tipton, California’s “Hollywood” Danny Faria Jr. is inching closer to his second championship. Driving Junior Bowman’s #17V Buster & Ziggy Enterprises / SurfNSprint Spike, Faria has three feature wins, including the August 22nd “Bud Stanfield Memorial” at Santa Maria. In addition, “Hollywood” has two Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Awards, one top qualifier award, six heat race victories, eleven top-10 finishes, and 88 feature laps led. At press time, Faria sits twelfth in the mini-series point standings.

“Chargin” Charles Davis Jr., Matt Rossi, Stevie Sussex, Josh Pelkey, “The Magic Man” Mike Martin, Brian Hosford, “The Radio Flyer” Bruce St. James, Andy Reinbold, and Mike Colegrove round out the top-10 drivers in the USAC SouthWest standings.

Richard Vander Weerd, Trey Marcham, D.J. Johnson, Jace Vander Weerd, Tristan Guardino, Ryan Bernal, “Shifter” Landon Hurst, Bud Kaeding, and Brody Roa are chasing Danny Faria Jr. in the USAC West Coast points.
