It’s tough to win on the World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series trail. Not only does a driver have to contend with the “Dirty Dozen” drivers. A group of grizzled veterans and champions who know the trade inside and out and a small contingent of promising upcoming throttle stompers. Now toss the best from the regional and local racing scene into the mix and one can easily see the difficulty of winning a World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series feature event. In racing terms, “It ain’t easy.”

Imagine what must be going through the minds of “Dirty Dozen” members Chub Frank and Rick Eckert heading in to this weekends racing action. They have to figure out what needs to be done to win. Not only win their first World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series events of the 2005 season, but defend their wins at two of the top dirt track racing facilitys in the nation.

After a two-week break in the schedule, The World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series brings their style of fast, side by side racing action back to life at the DIRT MotorSports owned Lernerville Speedway in Sarver,PA Friday, April 29th for a 50-lap $10,000 to win feature event. The “Dirty Dozen” race teams then head to Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown,MD Saturday, April 30th for the $10,000 to win “24th Annual Stanley Schetrompf Memorial 50”.

For Frank of Bear Lake,PA his lone victory of the 2004 campaign happened at Lernerville Speedway. “Chubzilla” started midpack for the main event aboard his Lester Buildings/All Star Performance/Corry Rubber No. 1* Chub Frank Racing Rocket Chassis/Custom Race Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Choosing a harder compound tire for the April 23, 2004 50 lap event Frank came on strong during a long green flag run grabbing the lead with three laps to go.

“I can’t believe we’re here,” stated Frank after last years victory. “I didn’t think we’d get here because of all the stuff that was going on.” That statement made when a fire leveled Frank’s race shop and his late mother, Janet, fell ill just a little more than a month prior to the 2004 event at Lernerville Speedway.

In describing his victory Frank related, “You just had to run where they weren’t. We beat them at the end. I guess that’s the idea, just beat them at the end. To win in my home state, this is pretty special.”

Frank is ready to defend his race victory at Lernerville Speedway and feels Hagerstown Speedway will be a good track for him as well. “We’re looking forward to going to both places. We’re getting the cars ready right now. We’re definitely looking forward to both Lernerville and Hagerstown. Both tracks have been pretty good to us in the past. We’ve got good set-ups for those places so hopefully we can run good at both tracks.”

Eckert of York,PA will also be looking to defend his “Stanley Shetrompf Memorial 50” title at Hagerstown Speedway. Eckert led all 50 laps of last years event driving the Raye Vest Excavating/J&J Steel No. 24 Raye Vest Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Taurus to his first career win with the World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series. After that April 24, 2004 victory “Scrub” stated, “I didn’t know whether I was ever going to get a World of Outlaws win. It’s nice coming home and winning this before my hometown fans.”

Eckert backed up that early 2004 season win at Hagerstown by taking the Series second stop at Hagerstown in July of last year. Eckert feels confident heading in to this weekends events. “I am really looking forward to this weekend because of all the great racing action the fans are going to see. Lernerville and Hagerstown both put on great shows and drivers love to race all over the place and put on a show for the fans. I had good runs at both venues last season, so we will see if I can keep that up this year. It will be hard to stay undefeated in World of Outlaws competition at Hagerstown, but we are going to try our best.”
