There might be snow on the ground in much of the country, but that
doesn’t mean fans have less of an appetite for racing. With that in
mind, the Outdoor Channel will debut its new trackside interview
program “Elbows Up!” on Dec. 21.
In conjunction with National Speed Sport News, the first edition of
“Elbows Up!” features hosts Johnny Gibson, the World of Outlaws
announcer, and Brad Doty, who shares his unique perspectives during
Outdoor Channel coverage of the series throughout the season. DIRT
MotorSports VP of Race Operations Shane Carson, a former racer and
promoter, also is featured as a special guest on the interview panel
for the first edition.
In 2006, guests on “Elbows Up!” will include drivers, owners, sponsors
and members of the media. The first edition airing at 8 p.m. ET on
Wednesday was taped during the season finale at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway and will include segments with 2005 Top 10 racers Craig
Dollansky, Terry McCarl, Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz and Brooke Tatnell
as well as 2006 racers Jeremy Campbell and Randy Hannagan.
DIRT MotorSports recently announced its off-season national Outdoor
Channel television line-up with new feature programs leading up to the
first 2006 World of Outlaws Sprint Series season race broadcast from
the DIRT-owned Volusia Speedway Park during “Speed Weeks” in Florida
beginning February 9. The off-season television line-up will lead
directly into the 2006 schedule, which will include 34 race broadcasts
and 16 feature programs for a total including rebroadcasts, of 150
hours of national television coverage on the Outdoor Channel.
Fans traveling to the World of Outlaws Sprint Series season opener at
Volusia Speedway Park can watch the action during the second episode of
“Elbows Up!” taped from the series’ new state-of-the-art mobile media
center. Four to five episodes of the trackside program are scheduled
for 2006, in addition to a full slate of racing.
So while the anticipation is building for the 2006 season of the
“Greatest Show on Dirt” fans can quench a bit of their thirst for
racing by tuning into the Outdoor Channel at 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, with
rebroadcasts on Fridays at 1 a.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m. ET.
