The Fastrak Series will celebrate its Champions during the month of January.

National Champion (Southern Region) Mr. David Browning of Jacksonville FL. David is 33 years old, married to Stephanie, with children Tyler and Dillon. David was one of the most consistent drivers all year in the Southern Region. When it came to one of the flat, hard surface tracks, Browning was always hard to beat. David started racing at age five in karting, then quickly moved up through the ranks winning the first Super Late Model race he ever participated in. David has several track Championships at Jax raceways in Jacksonville, FL and also at the former asphalt track at Volusia County Speedway. David was driving a Mastersbilt chassis this year. His sponsors included Remax Real Estate-Amelia Island, J & K Diving, Southern Outdoor Sports and Schoenfeld Headers. David's crew included car owner Glen Hancock and Crew Chief John Bubenik.

National Champion (Mid East Region) Mr. Shannon Buckingham of Morristown TN. Shannon is 32 years old, married to Dominique, with children Camden and Brodie. Shannon has been a tough competitor this year, winning several events in the Mid East Region and finishing second in the Crate Nationals at Wytheville VA to clinch the Championship. Tom Buckingham, Scotty Smith and Mike Kite worked as Buckingham’s crew for the '05 season. Shannon won driving a Barry Wright Chassis and was sponsored by S & S Millwright and Total Performance. Its was Shannon’s first year in a dirt car, although he had been competing on a national level in Mod Lights for the previous ten years. Buckingham stated that Fastrak was an excellent place for the teams wanting to move up to Super Late models at some point. "It’s a great steeping stone."

Mid West Champion Mr. Joe Morris of Galatia IL. Joe is forty six years old. His wife Sherry, Mike Poole and Rich Hammond handled the crew duties while his son Joey also raced in the series in '05. His racing career started in 1989 and he has won track championships in Super Late Models. His sponsors include Fabrick Machine, Caterpillar, Clear Wave Communications and Morris Excavating. Joe was driving a Rocket chassis this year. Morris was quote as saying, “Fastrak is a great series to race. Its affordable and the teams all work together. If one team needs something, another team steps up and helps them. It’s a good bunch of drivers and teams, and it has been close and very competitive racing. Sort of like the old days when people helped each other.” This is a Championship nobody can ever take away, the first Fastrak Mid West Champion. That’s great!

Southern/Mid East Rookie of the Year. Mr. Matthew Daniels of Spartanburg, SC. Matthew is 16 years old. His Dad Danny, Mom Joni, sister Kelly, Mike Smith, Mike's daughter Sydney, Glen Herrington and Tim Darsey handled the crew positions for '05, along with lots of help from Tim and Lee Cooper. Sponsors included Treadwells Racing Stuff, Jack Gowan Remax Real Estate, Macks Car Wash and Mattkel Inc. Matthew came out of WKA kart racing, where he raced three years, then went on to become the runner-up in points at Cherokee Super Speedway in 2004. Matthew was quoted as saying, “I just thought it was phenomenal to have the opportunity to race with the other Fastrak teams. The level of competition was fierce all the time, but everyone was always fun to race with. The other teams were fair and always willing to help.” The “Rookie Of The Year” was sponsored by Dirt Pro Mufflers of Marietta GA.

The Series will first hold the Southern/Mid East banquet on January the 7th followed by the Mid West Banquet on the 14th. Over $80,000.00 in cash and prizes will be awarded to the Fastrak teams for the best year ever. The Fastrak Banquet seems to hold a little different flavor than most, as last year most of the teams stayed after the banquet to just enjoy each other's company away from the race track. “I was surprised by our banquet last year,” stated Founder, Stan Lester. “I know with most banquets people eat, get their awards and go home afterwards--but with Fastrak it was very different. People sat around and talked until the wee hours of the morning, just having fun! We call it “bench racing”. Families were introduced to each other and Fastrak became more of a racing family. Almost everyone commented how much they enjoyed it. There was snow and ice on the ground, and in Georgia that is not very common, but everyone came and enjoyed themselves. "I could not have been more proud of the teams and their families” stated Founder, Lester. “It just goes to show you how much the teams take great pride in the Series and in what they accomplished this year. This is a great bunch to be associated with. We are no doubt very blessed.”
