(CHADWICK, IL) – Darren Miller and the 32D team will be hard at work the next few days in the race-shop performing maintenance and preparing for the upcoming “Show-Me 100” event to be held at West Plains Motor Speedway May 26-28th.
“We’ve had a couple of hard nights racing over the weekend” stated Miller from his shop. “Friday night we made adjustments to the car for the feature at the Farley (IA) Lucas Oil Late Model Series race that worked out really well. At the start we were able to get going and moved forward pretty quickly. I think we moved from 16th starting spot to 6th in just a few laps. Unfortunately, the track was so rough the right front corner of the nose and bumper caught one of the deep ruts and began dragging the ground. That killed our move forward. After that we packed the left rear wheel with mud and tore a caliper cross-over brake line off., which put us out for the night.”
Darren went on to say, “Saturdays Lucas Oil race at LaSalle (IL) Speedway kind of went the other way. The track was smooth but we made an adjustment for that race that didn’t quite work out and we ended up finishing twelfth. But we’ll put the weekend behind us and concentrate this week on preparing for the “Show-Me”. Everyone’s really looking forward to this years event. We’re going to give the equipment a good look over and maintenance program and make sure everything is ok after the weekend.”
Darren and the 32D team raced Friday night, May 20th at Farley Speedway, Farley (IA) in a Lucas Oil Late Model Series event. Qualifying 13th and finishing 6th in his heat, Darren lined up for the feature in the 16th starting position. On the move quickly, Darren advanced from 16th to 6th place before dropping out of the race early, experiencing mechanical failure with a broken brake caliper line. He was one of 14 cars to retire early from the 24 car field.
Saturday nights action at LaSalle Speedway, LaSalle (IL) in another Lucas Oil Late Model Series event saw Darren qualify 13th and finish 2nd in his heat, but slip from his 5th place feature starting position to eventually finish 12th.
