“Turtleman” is Grand Marshall of Racing Action at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday May 11

Junction City, KY- May 8, 2012- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz are happy to announce that local celebrity resident Ernie Brown, better known worldwide as “The Turtleman” will be in attendance at Ponderosa Speedway and serve as the Grand Marshall of racing activities this Friday evening May 11.

Joining “The Turtleman” at “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday evening May 11 will be the film crew that tapes and produces Mr. Brown’s famous program “Call of the Wildman” that airs on the Animal Planet channel. The television crew will be in attendance and filming Mr. Brown, along with those race fans and racers in attendance, at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday evening May 11.

The May 11 racing program will feature Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models racing for $1,200 to win, Clayton Homes Modifieds racing for $600 to win, Ken Towery’s Auto and Tire Care Sportsman racing for $300 to win, Bob Allen Motor Mall Street Stocks racing for $200 to win ($100 to win if there are four to seven entries), and Front Wheel Drives racing for $200 to win ($100 to win if there are four to seven entries) all in action in a full program of weekly racing series competition. The Late Model, Modified, and Sportsman divisions will time trial, while the Street Stock and Front Wheel Drive divisions will pill draw for heat race starting positions. All drivers will need to visit the registration/payout window to draw for time trial order or heat race starting spots. Also, all divisions will participate in qualifying heat race events that will determine the feature event starting line-ups. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions. The highest finishing driver in the Late Model division utilizing a Crate engine powered car will receive a $100 bonus, while the second highest finishing driver sporting a Crate engine powered mount will receive a $50 bonus.

Activities for the Friday May 11 racing event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m, while the general admission area opens at 5:00 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 7:00 p.m. Practice laps will begin at 7:15 p.m., followed by time trials at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the May 4 racing event in the general admission area will be $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and children ages 5 and under admitted free with a paid adult. A pit pass will be $30.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Larry Yantz is the track promoter and will present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday and selected Saturday evenings from April through October of the 2012 race season.
