ALLISON, Iowa (June 3) – Jon Tesch took control on the second lap and won going away Wednesday night as the “Wizard of Watertown” whipped up another victory spell in the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour — this time in the 8th Annual Butler County Spring Clash at the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa.

Eight-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock of Fertile drew the pole position for the 30-lap Sunoco “A” Main, but was only able to enjoy one lap around the lightning-fast half-mile oval before Tesch assumed the top spot for good.

Being a bridesmaid seems to inspire the 32-year-old from Watertown, S.D. After finishing second to Jason Hughes at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa on May 19, Tesch bounced back the next night at the Marshalltown Speedway to turn the tables and claim the win over Hughes.
Tuesday night at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt he came up just a few feet short and settled for the runner-up spot behind Tim Donlinger, then enacted his vengeance Wednesday night in the main event.

It was the 14th stop at the Highway 3 Raceway in the 11-year history of the United States Modified Touring Series, and the first win at the Butler County Fairgrounds facility for Tesch and his #14 Ramirez Race Cars Modified.
Shryock held off fellow second-generation ace Ryan Dolan of Lisbon for the second-place prize while Al Hejna of Clear Lake was fourth ahead of Michael Long of Quincy, Ill.

Zack VanderBeek, Ryan Gustin, Scott Green, Colt Mather and Corey Dripps rounded out the top-10 finishers, respectively.

Green's long haul of more than 500 miles from his home in Derby, Kan., earned the 2007 USMTS Rookie of the Year an extra $100 from Ruter Farms, while his drive to an eight-place finish from 16th on the 24-car starting grid earned him an award of the same amount in capturing the PBM Performance Products Hard Charger Award.

With his fourth $2,000 triumph of 2009, Tesch took command of the Central States Region points battle and leads VanderBeek by 28 markers (307 to 279) with three races down and six to go. Gustin is third with 266, followed by Shryock (250), Long (242), Dripps (237), Hejna (234), Green (214), Mather (212) and Dereck Ramirez (211).
