2004 Callaway Raceways rules

What?? No Hoosiers?? I was sure hoping to see that Callaway was going to go Hoosier Tires. It would definately make Friday night/Saturday night racing in the area more interesting with Capital gone now...or are the Capital revival rumors true???

Lake Ozark Speedway, mods can run mccrearys or Hoosier A's. I think Callaway is really screwing up not allowing at least hard hoosiers to run also. If they did im sure there car count would pick up. They need to think about this in my opinion. Also the track at lake ozark is done and they are in the process of putting the lighting and grandstands in. Awsome looking track.

We're hearing rumors that DNR has shot down the developers plans to build housing at the Capital Speedway site due to oil, gas and antifreeze in the core samples drilled at the site. AS I SAID THESE ARE RUMORS. Also, hearing rumors that some individuals are trying to strike a deal with the developer to purchase the track and re-open it. AS I SAID THESE ARE RUMORS. Would like to know if any of these rumors are true. Anybody with any serious information about it can PM me about it if they'd like. ONCE AGAIN THESE ARE ONLY RUMORS THAT I HAVE HEARD THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE. I don't have any affiliation with any track nor do I work for any land developers. I just try to keep up on what's going on in our local race scene.

I have had it confirmed by a very reliable source that a previous owner and racer has purchased the land at reduced rate and is going to reopen in its original form.

That is precisely the same thing I had heard. Just didn't want to post it exactly that way in case I was wrong (for the first time, I might add)j/k. Anyhow, that is great news. Have any idea when we might know exactly what is going to go on?

That scenario might work out well if that previous owner/driver owned a business in close proximity to the track. ;) I hope that the rumors are true.

Callaway

I will see what I can do about the tire situation. If all the other tracks are using hooiser tires than maybe they wll change thier minds. I will ask.
I think I know who may have bought the land back at Holts Summit. I haven't seen these two people yet. I sure hope i they did then I will have a good chance of having the Souvenir stand there to.

Yeah, it would be nice if everyone would get on the same page as far as some of the rules (such as tires) goes. We are getting several tracks in the area now and nobody has exactly the same rules regarding tires, heads/engines, weight. It makes it difficult to try and run two different places in one weekend. Besides that, the Hoosier is just a better tire. We've always went to Callaway on Fridays and Capital on Saturdays in the last couple of years. Used to go to Moberly when it was dirt the first time. Have been enjoying going to Montgomery since it is only about a 20 minute drive to the track from here. It's gonna be really interesting to see what happens.

I believe the hoosier tire is more expensive and you go thru them faster. I would rather run the imca tire...I already have them, And I think they play somewhat of a role in limiting how much horse power you can get to the track. Some of us like the idea of maybe being able to run competitively without missing a house payment, or making the kids do without because of our desire to play a little too. SO...with that in mind, if you do talk them into running a hoosier tire, dirttrackfan, you may come up with as many guys that don't like that idea as those who do. Hopefully the rumor about Capital is true, and maybe they could keep the same tire rule as before. then we would still have two tracks with the poor mans tire. Let that good ole hard tire split the difference in who can drive and who cant, not just see who has the fattest wallet.

It will be no small task just to get the track back in racing condition in time to have a season, much less split hairs over what rules to have. They will build new bleachers and constuct all new fencing around the whole joint to start with. Then they have to look towards the concessions after that. Much of the movable fixtures from the track are know gone.

As far as the tire deal goes, I can't see a switch in the near future. It will be interesting to see what goes on in the years to come though! I have heard that Boubin has raised the price on the g-60 to where resellers have to sell at about $95.00 per tire. That puts the IMCA tire only $7.00-10.00 behing the standard Hoosiers. One option they may have would be the new Hoosier economy tire which real close to the same compound as the IMCA tire and sells for about $80.00 each.

I really like the IMCA tire because it is so hard and does last longer than the Hoosiers. It ****s that the money we spend on those tires goes to a sanctoning body that does not have a dang thing with where I use them!

I guess we will have to wait and see!

Yes, I have heard of the money that goes to imca, but i would still rather spend the 7-10 bucks less no matter where it goes than to spend the extra on a tire that wears out faster. LOL and like i said, I already have them, lots of spares, and not a Hoosier in the house. See you at the track.
