CALLAHAN, FL (December 27, 2006) Jason Fitzgerald, crew chief for the 2006 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion driver Earl Pearson Jr. will compete in two late model events this weekend at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga Friday Dec 29 and Sat Dec 30th. Jason will be piloting the Murrell Mixon Motorsports Mastersbilt Chassis in the National Late Model Series sanctioned events that will pay $3000 to the winner each night. Jason will have his former crew chief Ronnie Blair and Earl Pearson Jr. the 2006 World 100 winner in his pit this weekend to crew on his Mastersbilt Chassis.

Jason is no stranger to the (naughty word)pit of late models or Golden Isles Speedway. Before being hired to crew chief for Earl Pearson Jr. for the 2006 season, Jason was a well respected and winning late model driver in the southeast competing in numerous Carolina Clash, Southern All-Stars and various late model events in the south. Jason won the track championship in the late model division at Putnam County Speedway in Palatka Florida in 2003 driving for Southeast Motorsports. Jason is also instrumental in the design and development of the highly successful SHARK Modified Chassis by Southeast Motorsports. Jason won several modified events driving a SHARK Modified at Golden Isles Speedway including a big win this past March during an off-weekend from his crew chief duties for Earl Pearson Jr. and the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports team.

Jason has just recently been hired to crew chief for the new Bobby Labonte Motorsports dirt late model team and driver Earl Pearson Jr. for the 2007 season and he is very excited about the opportunity to work for Bobby Labonte and Earl. “To get an opportunity to work for Bobby Labonte Motorsports is great honor to me. I have to thank Carlton and Kemp Lamm and Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports for giving me a chance to work for them. They are great people and without their trust in me I wouldn’t have gotten the opportunities that I have now. I’m really excited to get to work with Earl again for 2007 and looking forward to winning that 4th national championship in a row with him”, stated Jason.’

Jason will be piloting a Mastersbilt Chassis this weekend for Jacksonville Florida’s Murrell Mixon. Murrell Mixon Motorsports also fielded race cars for Earl Pearson Jr. in the mid 1990’s on the National Late Model Series and has gotten to know Jason and Ronnie while racing in the southeast over the past several years. “It’s going too be fun to get behind the wheel again for me this weekend. Murrell asked me a couple of weeks ago to drive his car at this event and I jumped at the opportunity. He has really good equipment and he’s a great car owner to drive for. So it should be fun to race with Murrell, Ronnie and maybe I’ll get Earl to wrench a little on the car and get him dirty for a change”, stated Jason.
