I personally think this class needs to be somewhat open like Malden was. There's more rear wheel drive mini stocks around this area with dirt tires an some run street tires. Just my opinion an I have just bought a rwd mini stock an dont live ten minutes from this track. Would hate to have to sale this cause this class is going by stl style rules

Im with you on this...but not to the degree of Malden cars.. the flatsided, cars from south of the border were a bit much....especially when most of the local racers were not much better than stock..

I will put my two cents in on this subject. I was the one that brought the pro 4 class to Benton back in 2008. I somewhat agree that the rules could be opened up a little more. The aluminum bodies on the mini late model looking cars should not be allowed. Whenever Justin Mcallister showed up at Malden he was highly competitive running with the mini stocks there. Whenever he ran at Pevely he was highly competitive with the pro 4 class there. Using this as a gauge, I would say they were about the same in the speed and handling department. Make it optional for any tire that you can bolt on the car. Pretty much what Malden had. The idea of the class is to get new racers out there to see if they have what it takes to get around the corner at speed and the work involved in maintaining a weekly racer. Or for guys like me who have retired from racing who wants to get an occasional thrill. the class will be made up of malden, pevely, and fredricktown cars until the locals built something to run. lets give them all a chance to compete togeather at benton. maybe a split weight rule between mini's and pro 4. but keep them sensible looking with steel bodys and cheep to build and operate. one last thing. when ever there is a big money race for one of the other classes and pit passes are jacked up. don't raise the rates for the 4 cyl class. Derek you know the 4 cyls will always be last and you don't get to see the big show stripped in your car sitting on pit lane. hope I did'nt offend anyone. just my 2 cents.

There are some valid points here. I first thought about going with malden rules, but when talking to a few 4 cyl racers, its seemed that the rear wheel drive guys didnt wanna race with the front wheel drive guys and vice-versa. Our thought here is that the 4-cyls should be your entry level, race out of the junkyard class. The days of getting pinto and 80s mustang parts out of the junkyard is gone. The FWD 4-cyls are the "pure stock" cars of this day and age. Like it or not, all other classes are "race out of the parts catalog" cars anymore.

I do agree Danny, support classes should get discounted pit passes on big shows.
Also, one of our major goals is to stick to the rules and not be changing things mid-stream. Hopefully you guys can respect that.

Okay so now iv herd it's gonna be this way then iv herd from a guy that does the drag strip stuff there say that it's gonna be Malden rules now. Just like to know if I'm gonna be a or to run my rwd mustang there or not

Well I am sorry that you have been misinformed. The "drag strip" guy has nothing to do with the circle track. The rules are as posted, rwd are legal if they meet all the other rules.
