RANDLEMAN, N.C.– Three teenagers have been charged in the theft of a bronze statue from a camp for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses.
Andrew Marco Callicutt, 19, and Edward York Branch, 18, both of Randleman; and Charles Thurman Bailey Jr., 17, of Trinity, were charged with felony larceny in the theft from the Victory Junction Gang Camp.

Randolph County sheriff’s deputies said they obtained arrest warrants Tuesday and served them on Callicutt and Bailey, who were each placed under $2,500 bonds. Officers said Wednesday that Branch was away with a relative and would be served later.

The 500-pound bronze statue depicts two children playing leap frog near the entrance of Victory Junction, which was developed by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife in honor of their late son, Adam.

The statue was reported stolen June 29, two weeks after the camp opened. It was recovered in a church parking lot July 1.

Deputies later returned the statue to the camp. Camp officials said they plan to place it back in its original location and secure it to prevent another theft.

What a shame. Maybe these young adults can do some community service at the camp since it is a non profit organization and all income comes from charity and corps... If it was my kid she'd be doing it weather they made her or not. I can see her out there polishing the staute everyday for hours at a time. But then again I am a no nonsense type of mom also...

How about making them cook, clean, do laundry, yard work, etc..... That will teach the little punks not to steal from a not-for-profit organization (or from anyone for that matter) It's a real shame that happened.

I would make sure that part of their punishment is learning the value of caring. Even if they had to be force fed it. So many kids these days are raised with the attitude of if they can find fault in anyone then they are better than that person and not affraid to say so.

A good hickory switch will cure that!

MAKE THEM DO WHATEVER, BUT A GOOD OLD FASHION @$$ BUSTIN' WOULDN'T HURT EITHER!!!! I TAKE THAT BACK, IT WOULD HURT THE 3 PUNKS!!

Those Punks should perform hours of community service at the camp. I mean do everything...from Colonel of the Urinal to serving and cooking food for those kids
