When the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance rolls into Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Speedway for the 2018 FASTRAK World Championship weekend more cars will have their shot at the $20,000 payday on October 6th. Continuing what started at the 2018 USA 100 at the Jamaica, VA track, 30 cars will start the feature for both the FASTRAK World Challenge and FASTRAK World Championship.

“With the popularity of Pro Late Models and the number of cars at the weekly tracks, it has enabled us to expand the field to 30 cars,” said Bill Sawyer, owner of Virginia Motor Speedway.

The expansion of the field will allow for 6 more cars to take the green flag each night of the weekend. Positions 25-30 will receive $250 each on Friday, October 5th for the 40-lap, $5,000 to win FASTRAK World Challenge. Those same positions will each receive $500 for the 60-lap, $20,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship.

At least one consolation race will be added to the 2018 FASTRAK World Championship, giving even more drivers the opportunity to race for purse money. The number of consolation races will be based on car count, and the purse for the consolation race will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We had already announced the addition of consolation races, to give more drivers the opportunity to race for purse money,” said FASTRAK General Manager, DJ Irvine, “Adding six cars to the starting field follows that same philosophy of giving more drivers the chance to race for money.”

The FASTRAK World Championship weekend is the richest weekend in all of Chevrolet Performance Late Model racing, and the expanded fields will add $4,500 in purse money. That total will continue to rise once the consolation race purse is announced. The rain date for the 2018 FASTRAK World Championship is Sunday, October 7th.

The 2019 FASTRAK World Championship will pay an unprecedented $50,000 to win and $2,050 to start, with a total purse of over $150,000 for the Saturday night feature.
